I can't believe even Ducey is willing to tolerate this, but he may surprise me. If we had just stayed in "lockdown" past Memorial Day - two more weeks, we might well have contained it.
We were getting close at 1600 a day just a week ago 3300 has to be killing the hospitals.

I do know that Banner is importing NY and CO travel nurses to work their growing COVID units.

Of course it's not in jest. If someone wants to arrest someone for violating a law, who do they call?

THE POLICE. They carry guns.

So draw your own conclusions.

Sounds like that's an internal staffing problem at Banner. None of the other hospital chains appear to be having trouble.

It’s the largest provider in the state so no problems to see here

Casinos in Phoenix have closed again. This is what people (Ducey?) don't seem to get. When COVID surges back, people get scared, businesses worry about employees and lawsuits (they haven't asked you yet to sign waivers to shop there), and places - particularly large brands - shut back down. Travel bans from AZ will be next. There is no recovery without control.

You'd think the public health aspect would be enough. But if you want to go with what people here apparently care about - economically - this is going to create a much more long term mess than if we had just locked down longer in the first place and gone with the CDC guidelines for reopening.

First - you've got the employees coming down with it. That gets out rather quickly now thanks to social media. It causes a drop in clientele going to the business or it causes the business to shut down for a period of time for deep cleaning, isolating staff, etc (all of which they should do, hands down). The business loses money, potentially goes out of business. This is going to be the cycle until this gets contained. From all aspects - a mask requirement needs to happen. Frankly I'd be fine with locking down again for another few weeks and not a weak lockdown - a serious one. How can parts of the world basically have this completely beaten and us not? Because they did what was right, not what was popular. Leadership. We're vastly in need of that in this country.

It's beyond embarrassing for the state, not to mention the economic impact. Right now it looks like this could drag on for a long time. If it bleeds into next year it would be devastating for the local economy. COVID clipped the last part of spring training this year (we went to a night game the day before they shut down MLB), which was bad enough. Imagine all of the events in 2021 either being cancelled outright, or suffering due to minimal attendance.

I support wearing a mask for those that want to. Not a fan of the forced measures or bowing to fear. The same experts folks like to tout (Fauci for example) have stated masks are only needed for those in direct contact with COVID patients. I keep my interactions and shopping to a minimum and wash my hands and face like a fiend.

I bought a Dracula Gottfried mask for charity and intended to wear it. But it's made for a Dracula Gottfried sized head and won't cover my nose and mouth effectively.

The bars are going strong...the dumb gal that works for me was at it again last night. Her and her 10 friends spent all night at the bars and she said they were packed. Not a mask to be seen.

It's just a matter of time before she brings it to work and we all get it. She doesn't understand when I show my frustration when she tells us about this nonsense.
