I'm glad you pointed out the Greek culture, too. This was a way of life for them, particularly the great Spartans!

The Spartans allowed homosexuality into the ranks of their military elite because they found it increased unit morale and fighting spirit. It created a personnal bond between the warriors. They were much more willing to fight even until death for fellow sodiers they loved and cared for.
How do you think Leonides was able to keep his 300 Spartans fighting a force that numbered 100 times his. I don't think it was for Freedom or the Greek people.

You are a person who doesn't remember Vietnam and an Army and Marine Corps that came home with drug resistent VD being somewhat epidemic in the ranks with high grade Heroin and Hash addiction also being a problem in the ranks. It took our military years to get this weeded out of the ranks. Now take Afganistan which makes Vietnam seem like a confortable billet. You would probably get down on your knees and say "Thank God, the troops are only smoking Hash or Opium" Thank God!"

Seems to me that Islam is simply copycat religion used for the same purpose as the Jew, a war tool.

If'n ya ain't got God on your side, whadaya got? Technology?
There are various references to those type of things, but nothing like Revelations. It's not a copycat religion, but shares a common history.

This isn't exactly a secret....
I have read before it is one of the reasons the Taliban felt they needed to take control of Afghanistan.

The whole thing is seriously sick and twisted.

Are you speaking of the Vietnam War, the one that cost the lives of 55,000 Americans? And calling it a comfortable billet compared to Afghanistan? You really should quit while you are behind.

Again the west judges cultural differences that they do not understand because it does not fit into the MOLD that they believe the rest of the world should fit into.

I am more concerned with the fact that the MAJORITY of murders in this country are perpetrated upon WOMEN by the husband/boyfriend or man in their life.

There are far more pressing matters to be worried about what people living in Afghanistan are doing with their penises.

Frontline did a story of the Bacha Boys a while back.

FRONTLINE: the dancing boys of afghanistan: watch the full program | PBS

It is a pretty sad story, especially that the officials are so deeply involved so there is no one that will fix the problem.

Their regard for the boys is low and murder is too common a final outcome as these men vie for their affections.

As a war we are in a world we have little clue about. and we will not change them to some pseudo democratic modern country.
