Homes that size are not going for that price.....

hmm.. how about the entire nation? just a thought. It is senseless to model our national tax structure based on New York City.

here in my town, for example, $50k/year for a household is an income greater than the average. $100k/year for a household puts you in the top 12%.

Wrong again. What do you suppose a three bedroom apartment in Manhattan goes for these days? Trust me, I know more about this than you ever will. And the answer would amaze you. You would be angry to know that anyone could even HAVE that much money.

here on long island an AVERAGE 1 bedroom apartment is 1400 a month...that's for 1 bedroom plus utilities....you might be able to find an illegal basement apartment for less

I pay $2000 a month for a 2 bedroom in the suburbs of Orange County. Get over it! If I made $250K a year here I'd be living like a millionaire. See you think you know what YOU are talking about but you don't.

And in the city that would be considered a major steal if it existed and could even be lived in. You can't get a studio for that price; not even in a decent part of Brooklyn.

who cares? what on earth does Manhattan rent have to do with national tax brackets?

hell, it seems to me that high taxes on $250k+ earners is exactly what is needed to bring NYC rents down!

The average legal one bedroom is probably closer to $1,200 than $1,400. You can find quite a few full house rental's for $1,800-$2,000
