No matter whether you think Europe or America has a better way of doing things, right now we have one of each: one America, one Europe. The last thing we need is another Europe, over here. If you are here and wish you were there, there are planes at the nearest airport that will take you there.

The cost to keep employees means fewer get hired. And those who are hired have to be paid enormous wages just so they can meet the cost of living.

Fewer jobs, less money coming into the government, all the money going out... none coming back in.

Europe in my personal opinion may only have a good 20-50 years of life left if they don't change course.

Like I said, Britain is doing the best of all of them that I saw, and even they are going ... whoa wait, this has gone too far!
Silverquick !!! ... A Most Interesting Post !

From the current information I have read regarding Europe, it truly appears that these great folks with such a magnificient history may well be on the threshhold of oblivion !!!

If ever there was an opportune time for that "Strong Hand From Somewhere" leader to appear and masterfully revive "Europe The Great" ...... That Time Is Now !

Factual History is truly a facinating study ..... The great European Race has without doubt played an unprecedented role in the enormous conquest of the entire globe and provided an opportunity for the Germans, French, English, Spanish, and Italian people to establish the greatest kingdoms ever known to the human race !!!!!

Perhaps very soon a superior leader will step upon the European political stage and successfully accomplish the unification and rebuilding of the proud Europe many of us remember not so long ago !!!

Empire Building Anyone ??? Don't ever ... No not ever ... count the proud German People out ! Not Just Yet !

Thanks Y'all / Old Sgt. Lamar

In the USA we have about 850 cellphones per 1000 people.
LOL, I haven't heard such a ridiculous thing for a long time.

1.) The health care system in most European countries is MUCH better than in the USA. I haven't seen anybody shouting that they want the American Way, even I have lived in Europe for years. The American health care system is the most inefficient and expensive in the world.
Yeah about 15% worth, on top of the general 50% tax rate. And yeah Zantec cost 30 Euro.

Quote:
2.) City transit is much better and cheaper in most European countries, for about 60-70 Euro a month you can ride the public trains, busses, metros and railway in a whole metropolitain area like Berlin, Munich, or wherever. And public transport is avaliable allmost everywhere.

Yup sure is, but you'd think with a 50% tax rate... it would be free.... right? So why did I have to pay on average 5-15 Euro per ride?

Quote:
.) The only thing I would complain about as a European would be the high taxes. But is their kind of living - in exchange you don't have to fear thousands of dollars of spending once you need to go to hospital. And you don't need to fear to lose your home immediately in case you lose your job. Retirement is state-run and more or less safe, so it is not based on any speculative hedge-funds, bursting like a bubble.

Yeah and unemployment and government going bankrupt. Ours is actually fixable, your cost of living isn't going down and isn't reversable.

No wonder you guys don't have jobs over there. It takes that much money to live. It can't last forever, you know that. I have heard as much from other europeans over there.

I know Britain was bailing out Greece, I also know the elections in Britain were all about cutting spending so they didn't end up that way.

They generally pay per minute, so you go get a chip and throw money on it, but because it costs so much and get used up so fast no one calls anyone unless they absolutely have to.

They use texting instead, and even then sparingly, because that costs money too.

Computers are pretty rare, unless you're in major cities, and even then. Internet is horrible, connections are bad. But they use Skype to keep from having to pay long distance costs when they can, because that costs way too much.

About the only thing that didn't cost about enormous amounts of money was the beer.
I lived in Germany (non-military) for 19 years (Steinau, Siegen, Frankfurt). I worked 12 years in German ad agencies. All work was done with computers using the latest graphic design software. I know many people in Frankfurt and Munich. All have computers. None have problems with the internet.
Computers are rare? What would you use to support your theory?
Could it be that all the people that you cite to promote your cause are can't cope halfwits?

Who the hell said something about 50% tax rate?
If you earn nothing, you do not pay any income tax.
If you earn not very much, you even pay no income tax, or 5-15%.
If you earn like the average, your tax rate might be around 25%
If you earn very much, you pay about 45% income tax.

The United States has by far the most expensive health care system in the world, based on health expenditures per capita. No way around this.
