What about these -

Leviticus 19:18
“‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

Matthew 5:43
"You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

Matthew 19:19
"...and love your neighbor as yourself."

Matthew 22:39
"Love your neighbor as yourself."

Mark 12:31 - Jesus gives us two commandments...
"The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

Mark 12:33
"To love him (God) with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself..."

Luke 10:27
He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ ; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

Romans 13:9
The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Galatians 5:14
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

James 2:8
If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.

You'll notice that the first one is from the OT. It helps to read all of the Good Book.

Certainly no Christian hand-wringing in this thread...

You can only ignore the vocal minority for so long. They have nothing better to do (like go to work, stop living off of others, figure out that there is a difference between contraceptives and conceiving) than push what they think on others to the point that those with brains in their heads finally get fed up and start talking back?

They're (the vocal minority) little freaking gnats...get all stuck up in your hair and in your face and are just annoying little things you want to squash, one by one.

I ignore the Christian wackadoo's, why can't atheists and everyone else? Why do they get so bent out of shape?

NJ ain't the south and it ain't liberal la-la-land Ca. You want to bring awareness to atheism? Do so in a way that doesn't make atheists (and the org) look like a bunch of ignorant asses.

Perhaps some middle ground can be reached. I, for one, would have no problem with a no-billboard ordinance. They're eyesores, they're distracting, and they're not very effective as marketing tools.

In Deuteronomy....What god has to say about nonbelievers

32:26"I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men."
32:22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
32:23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.
32:24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.
32:25 The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.
32:26 I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

There is tons of slaying in the bible, either by god or ordered by god of anyone who believes differently...haven't you read it? Reading that thing is what started me on the path to atheism.

So, it's ok to have signs and billboards of this nature, or ones covered with biblical verses announcing who is hellbound but it's NOT ok for Athiests to put up a sign? How many "Athiest billboards" do you see versus Christian billboards?

Why is Atheism so threatening?

It's not a persecution thread. If you don't like it? Don't post on it.

Easy.

Who said atheism is a threat? This particular group is just a bunch of idiots backing up how they chose to get their message across with a lot of BS and back-peddling and half-truths.

And the NT is full of the opposite. Jesus came to fulfill the law and will return one day do away with all that. God IS love.

What about the verses I listed? Don't they count? One has to take the whole thing into consideration. Even an atheist ought to be fair in his argument for disbelief otherwise he's only fooling himself and trying to fool others. No?

If this is the measure for the virtues of Christianity, the bar is very low!
