Let the people build them themselves. I live in a state where construction has taken a HUGE hit. These people know how to build. Throw some federal money at it.
I also live in a state that has been hit hard by the housing collapse.Okay so you have some labor to build the camps,and the material will come from the fedgov.

How does habitat for humanity get their projects done? I don't know. I imagine that would be my first line of investigation.
I do recall working for a VERY RICH guy in San Diego. We used to get the calls from Habitat for Humanity and, yunno, that guy never helped out.
Like I say, make Congress take a pay cut and use that money to get it done. They and Bushco got us into this mess, they should get us out. Or let 'em hit up their rich Wall Street friends for donations.
I imagine there are plenty of ways to get it done. One should not shoot down ideas before they even get fleshed out.

Why don't we call them housing developments. Language matters. The purpose is transitional housing until people find a way to get on their feet.

This idea was tried in the 60's in the USA with the hippies and i don'[t believe there is a surving commune left.

Don't worry. I am not "angery." Nor am I a communist. The nations I admire happen to be nations like Sweden and Norway who have figured out how to get this done.
