Faking religion is one thing. Being pro-Afghan war and pro-Stasi Act is another. Wonder how Maher will apologize for Obama here?
And I remember when the right was outraged by the Christian church Obama attended. They even accused him of attending this church for over ten years!

Yes! And what a church it was. With that inflammatory bigot, Rev. Jeremiah Wright at the pulpit.

This is the "Christian loophole" to get out of helping their fellow man without feeling guilty.

You might want to review the story about the "Good Samaritan."

Was he as bad as that Rev.of the mega church (Ted Haggard) who was doing meth and having sex with gay prostitutes?

Since Jesus never, ever forced people to give of themselves, doesn't seem like a loophole to me.

Read the story( Luke 10:25-37) and see what Jesus requires for "eternal life." Which one of the three men fulfilled the requirement?

Then read Matthew chapt. 25.

Loving your neighbor will help you enter Heaven, but it's not the main requirement nor is it . One has to believe in Jesus first and foremost. Regardless, Jesus never advocated the imprisonment of man who did not give to his neighbor. Finally, loving your neighbor is also interpreted as spreading the word of Jesus to him/her, not merely about redistribution of wealth. Jesus already condemned rich people into hell by claiming that it was harder for a rich person to enter Heaven as a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.

Here it is! The loophole for helping out others!

This is why so many Christians are looked down upon. They will literally tell a person who is starving that they will pray for him and then they will go on their merry way thinking what good Christians they are.

Who's they? Don't churches and other religious organizations give billions to people in need? Where do you think they get that money from? Churchgoers.

When the government forces citizens to give to their church to make sure it gets to the right people, then I'll buy this tinfoilhattery of a "Christian charity loophole"

IMO, power seekers who achieve ultimate power, whether they be in the political, religious, business, etc. arena, believe in themselves first and foremost. Any show of piety on their part is just that, a show.
