If they keep "averting" a shutdown then we'll have 2 budgets to prolong

wow .. a whopping 39 billion .. hardly a drop in the bucket doncha think?

Babies .. every one of them .. Dems and Repubs alike ..

And how much was the first government bailout again? .. some 700 billion something? .. Maybe they should start with that .. a mere 39 billion isn't even enough to wake most of us up from our naps

Compared to the $6 billion the democrats started with, this is a big deal. Apparently the dems figured out they would NOT benefit from a shutdown.

No taxpayers funds for abortions in DC - but the democrats had voted on that in the past.

We will cut $78.5 billion below the President’s 2011 budget proposal, and we have reached an agreement on the policy riders. In the meantime, we will pass a short-term resolution to keep the government running through Thursday. That short-term bridge will cut the first $2 billion of the total savings.”
Well, if the democrats had come to the table after the House passed the $61 Billion package, none of this breathless "drama" would have been needed.

The GOP got all but $11 billion - good start.

The spending deal agreed to Friday night to avert a government shutdown includes a provision banning the District from spending its own funds to provide abortions to low-income women as well as funding to continue a controversial school voucher program, according to Democratic and Republican sources familiar with the agreement.

The inclusion of the abortion policy “rider” represents a victory for Republicans, who previously imposed such a ban when they controlled Congress and who included the provision in the version of the continuing resolution passed by the House in February. And it marks a sharp defeat for D.C. leaders, who fought to keep the ban out of a deal.

Congrats to John Boehner for getting the largest cuts in American history.

Proves the GOP is keeping their promises of cutting the spending like the MAJORITY of us want them to do.

Appears to me John got pretty much everything he wanted by out smarting the dems and putting them against the wall to show the American people the dems were only there to spend and waste our money.

I also like what he got that the repeal of the unlawful Obamacare will get to a vote. Good one John!

Just what we needed, a real leader who can get things done.

Think about it, the dems did not get a budget done in a year and here in less then a week Boehner gets all of this done.

Lets wait and see what happens from here but it appears this is a huge WIN for the majority of Americans, the conservative minded people.

The rider about stripping Title X Funding to programs such as Planned Parenthood was the biggest sticking point and that was dropped.

Uh..no. That was dealt with much earlier in the day, as Boehner had stated. Chuck and Harry were just demagogueing the issue.

Great achievement for Boehner and the GOP, but this is just the start.

In the larger scheme? .. It isn't

How many billions does it take to make $1.27 trillion? 100 billion? 300 billion? .. hmmm?

1.27 trillion is the deficit for 2011

39 billion is just a facade .. a taste .. a tease .. a waste of our time

I don't get the significance of cutting funding for abortions in D.C. Why there and only there? Anyone explain?
