Very true. There are honorable, law abiding poor people.

The behavior of the New Orleans residents was an utter disgrace. The behavior of the Japanese is awe inspiring.

Big cultural differences account for the different responses to tragedy.

You are really asking about the relative speed with which aid was sent to (and arrived at) the disaster zone. Maybe the aid reached the Japanese faster because the Japanese weren't shooting at the aid helicopters. Just a wild guess.

This disaster makes Katrina look like a day at the park. Yet, you would never know how horrible things were from the civility and calm that Japanese citizens display during this horrible catastrophe.

If they can conduct themselves in such an honorable way, maybe there's something citizens from other countries can learn from Japan?
Are you saying it is because they don't have an significant numbers of blacks?

The US immediately sent war ships with men and supplies. Search and Rescue teams from around the world are converging on Japan with cadavar and search animals and equipment. The Ham Radio operators are working to establish more connections. The wreckage left behind is ten feet high is some places. There are people trapped in houses and all they ask for is water. There is none to give.

The Japanese were ill-prepared for an event of this magnitude that had not happened in 300 years. They don't have any large earth moving equipment like the CAT tractors or mining trucks - the kinds of "tools" that can move mountains of debris in short order. Even if they did, where will they put the miles and miles of debris? Japan is a small country.

.

Actually, They're well prepared and have the equipment to deal with this. As Japanese based manufacturer, Komatsu limited, is the world's second largest heavy equpiment manufacturer after Caterpillar and they'd already have plenty of heavy equipment in country, or be able to get it in fairly quickly if needed?

So there were people on every street in the city of New Orleans shooting at aid helicopters and that prevented any aid getting to a US city for 5 days?!? The level of lies regarding Katrina is astronomical

Would the gunfire really have to be coming from "people on every street"
in order to cause the pilots to exercise extreme caution? The staff at
Tulane Medical Center were dodging gunfire while attempting to evacuate
critical patients. The gunfire directed at helicopters was very real.

Of course not. Is that a real question?

I have no doubt that if the same event occured anywhere else OTHER than Japan, the devastation would've been far worse ... to say the Japanese were "ill prepared" as if another nation could be MORE prepared is, well ... it's downright silly.

And as the other poster commented, Komatsu is a huge worldwide company based in Japan - they've also been instrumental in donating the use of their contruction equipment in the cleanup.
