I hate to say this, however, I will:

The person who posted this thread is a typical person of young age, who has grown up his/her entire life, with entitlements from our government. He/she/it is so ignorant and nieve, he/she/it has no clue how things are paid for. They think everything is "free."

I know, I shall get the wrath of certain informed younger persons, however, again, most young people do not think, and/or realize, every single government program out there, including grade school, middle school, and high school, are paid for by tax dollars. And, those tax dollars come from your and my paycheck.

They go to school, get this program, that program, etc and when they find out they actually have to pay something and live in the real world, they fold up in a fetal position and cry, "It should be free."

Now that we are in a globalized world, which requires educated and skilled people to fuel economic growth in this country, we should allow anyone in the US to attend college free of charge. It makes sense in this global economy.

It's time to reset the way we do things, People.
Great idea, so now we can turn our first rate higher education system into the same mess our third rate primary and secondary education are in.

Advantage: it would free a lot of graduates from crushing student loan debt.
Disadvantages: too many college graduates; many believe that is already the case. Students taking courses useless in any economy. More difficulty in military recruitment.
What I wonder is why can't technology be used to decrease the cost of a college education?

Guess what they had in common? None of them graduated from college.
Yes, the most recent of those was elected in 1948, a mere 63 years ago now. Let's join the 21st century, shall we?

The point is not the few brilliant individuals who (for different reasons) did not attend college, but how a massive increase in college graduates could impact America's economy.
I remain skeptical.

Most people in my area have to hire a Maid Service, which costs $145 for one visit and only vacuums and cleans the bathrooms (once a month).

Funny how our elected officials in Washington typically hire illegal immigrants for their household help, and totally ignore all the bureaucratic requirements for worker's comp, social security, payroll taxes, withholding, etc. that prevent me and other dual-income couples from hiring household help that would make our lives so much easier.

I bet there are plenty of people in our area who would like to earn some money helping us with housework, but the government idiocy prevents me from hiring them since I would waste even more time on the miserable bureaucracy, not to mention losing buying power thanks to government tax greed.
