STEWART: So you believe no public option, so even though that's good enough for the military, not good enough for the people of America.
KRISTOL: Well, the military has a different health system than the rest of Americans.
STEWART: It's a public system, no?
KRISTOL: Yeah, they don't have an option, they're all in military health care.
STEWART: Why don't we go with that?
KRISTOL: I don't know. Is military health care really what you -- first of all, it's expensive. I think they deserve it, the military--
STEWART: But the American public do not.
KRISTOL: No. The American public do not deserve the same quality health care as our soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan deserve, and they need all kinds of things that the rest of us don't need.
STEWART: Well, no, they can have that level of care, but are you saying that the American public shouldn't have access to the same quality health care that we give to our better citizens?
KRISTOL: Yes. To our soldiers? Absolutely. The American public--
STEWART: Really?
KRISTOL: I think that if you become a soldier, you deserve--
[crosstalk]
KRISTOL: One of the ways we make it up to the soldiers, since they're risking their lives, we give them first-class health care. The rest of us can go out and buy insurance--
STEWART: So you said that the public--
[crosstalk]
STEWART: Get this on the record. Bill Kristol said that the government can run a "first class health care system." And a government-run health care system is better than the private health care system.
KRISTOL: I don't know if it's better.
STEWART: You just said that.
KRISTOL: I don't know if it's better.
STEWART: You said it was better! You said it's the best. It's a little more expensive...
KRISTOL: The military needs different kinds of health care...
STEWART: I just want to get this down: "The government runs the best health care."
Agreed. Liberals have been slowly trying to destroy this country since it's inception.
"As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality." George Washington
"What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label, "Liberal"? If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then the record of this party and its members demonstrate that we are not that kind of "Liberal." But, if by a "Liberal," they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties - someone who believes that we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say that I'm a "Liberal." John F. Kennedy
Ask someone from that country during that time period how much communism afforded them. Then ask what country has a more socialist state. We have free healthcare if you're sick and need it. We have SS, medicare, medicaide, unemployment, WIC... etc. You can't possibly tell me or anyone else on this forum we have less of a socialist state than the SU did when it was even around.
Oh, for crying out loud, again!

I believe our country should honor the following: "...with Liberty and Justice for All".
Liberty for All does not mean lawlessness for the wealthy and CHAIN GANGS FOR THE POOR. It does not mean having the liberty to choose between a life saving medical procedure and bankruptcy. It does not mean the Ivy League college for rich kids and west nowhere HS for the poor. Liberty means Liberty to live a decent life for everyone. Not just the wealthy.
Justice? What can we say about the difference between a public defender and an experienced high dollar lawyer when the Law decides you are a trouble maker? Or throws the ghetto kid into the slammer for dealing dope in the Bronx and never touches the candy man on Central Park West.
Politics are the same. Modest people never have the money to start an effective campaign when it takes fifty grand to open your bid before you shake down your contributors. Wealth folk don’t seem to have a problem. They just ante up and off they go. They put out a “politician for rent” sign and the money rolls in. Political Liberty for all? Not here.
3) You pay in the exact amount that you get out of the system. There is no reason for you to have insurance since you could have just paid for the care directly.
If I had several million dollars available for each family member I might skip the insurance. I'm afraid I'm not so fortunate.
1) You pay in more money than you get out of the system. You are paying for someone who didn't contribute fully for their own healthcare.
2) You pay in less money than you get out of the system. Some is paying for you since you didn't fully contribute for your own healthcare.

Are you saying I'm paying for the people who contribute nothing?
Are you saying I'm paying for the people who contribute nothing?
I have no idea where you stand.
I'm saying that people say the get quite upset about paying for other people's health care. Then they bring up the fact that they pay for their insurance. BUT the whole idea of insurance is (to make boatloads of money for the insurers) that some people pay for other people's medical care.

I don't believe the government wants to provide insurance ..... they want to provide healthcare to everyone, paid for by some.
I must disagree with Mr Kristol ..... I did not find military healthcare to be the best, and I don't want it again.
I don't know what military you served in but the healthcare I got in the military was top notch. Not to mention it was free.
