OK, so I left out the likes of Bernie Madoff, or a bank robber. I don't have all of the answers, but it seems the current system isn't working when 52% of these people are being re-incarcerated! Now, someone who has bad credit DOESN'T make them a criminal! Irresponsible, yes, but then again you don't really know why someone's credit may have taken a hit, as s*** happens! Most drug offenses are victimless crimes. Like I said, people make mistakes. I don't support an affirmative action type of bill, because our government is big enough, but I do support trying to truly rehabilitate non-violent criminals. The key words here are NON-VIOLENT! What if it was one of your family members?

I didn't say we should "hand" anyone a job. However, if you have someone who is physically capable of working and qualified for a particular job, they should be able to work and support themselves.

SamB, there is no need for the hyperbole. I clearly have not said we "must" give anyone a job. Carry on...

There is much more than physical capability at play here. I don't know about you, but I prefer responsible employees. You know, ones that aren't more likely to commit crimes.

You're making the argument that we should do this because if we don't they will go on to commit more crimes and/or get on welfare. Sorry, but it's not my responsibility to hire criminals and put my own business at risk just so they won't commit crimes. It's their responsibility to do what they have to do within the law.

There is a bill to prevent employers from discriminating against the unemployed.

EEOIMPACT LLC » NEW HOUSE BILL WOULD PREVENT EMPLOYER DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THE UNEMPLOYED

Yea actually you do have the answers:

Don't Commit Crimes!

Good grief, is that so hard to comprehend? Maybe when we stop looking at criminals as victims, rather than the fools that they are, we might just have less of them.

And we are not talking about bad credit.

The murderers and rapists? I suggest that if you are convicted of murder or even rape you be executed by firing squad on the first offense.

The robbers? They can settle for a ****ty job until they get their skill set up to a point where it is worth it for an employer to take the higher risk associated with hiring them.

The drug offenders? Legalize.

So, basically, you agree that non-violent offenders should be able to reintegrate into society? Isn't that what we have been saying...
