I wasn't alive to remember if Elenore Roosevelt was taking extravagant vacations and throwing A-list parties in the WH during the last Depression. Were you? If so, please enlighten us as to Elenore's descretionary spending habits on the taxpayers' dime.

Get real. You never complained when Nancy Reagan or Laura Bush took vacations, did you? I get that you don't like the Obamas. Can we just wait and vote on it in November of next year?
As a black woman, she is the most scrutinized First Lady in history. She is also more hated and despised by the racist segment of this country, far more than any previous First Lady simply because of the color of her skin. She's an incredible woman, mother, and wife, another fine black woman of great dignity, strength, character, versatility, intelligence, education, and depth. As a black woman in this society, she's overcome far more adversity than any white man or woman, and she has achieved much in spite of it. In her role as the wife of one of the greatest Presidents this country has had, it is her perogative to vacation.
It doesn't matter how much vacation a housewife takes. She is not a Federal employee. She has no job other than wife and mother.
It doesn't matter, as long as she's not spending taxpayer money do take those vacations. Unfortunately every "vacation" she takes from her non-job costs us millions of dollars.

Yeah, I think the rhetoric here pretty much keeps reaffirming what I've felt for a long time: there's a level of racism involved.
When a conservative family occupies the White House, we're asked to respect the presidency; when a family of black liberal Democrats occupies the White House, they're "thieves" or the first "food stamp" family, as Gingrich seemed to suggest.
