When they attempt to implant those embryos and those embryos fail to impant, who gets charged with the multiple homicides? I mean, look....they just killed a lot of people. I'd say put the mom in jail for life. After all, they were OK before they met her, right? Once inside, they didn't stand a chance.
Maybe just manslaughter. See how dumb this line of thought sounds?
If you're murdering people with abortion, then you're murdering people with fertility clinics. Or at least playing dice with God.
My experience is that a lot of people dont know what is involved in IVF. They think it is hormones and artificial insemination. They dont know that embryos are killed, or that there is nothing you can do to prevent dead embryos with IVF.
Or even one of the other answers is going on about adult stem cell research, when this question has nothing to do with adult stem cell research (although, its interesting that the poster expects there to be treatments in less than 15 years of research when adult stem cells took over 50 years to have a single treatment in a single patient).
And those who do know whats involved seem to dismiss it because its suddenly not murder when you are going through vain attempts at a pregnancy after your body screamed no... Why wouldnt it be ok, as we sit and feel sorry for the poor childless woman and then therefore accept any fertility treatment without question, even when you find the SAME procedures murder in other contexts....

My wife and I thought we'd have to do infertility treatments when we had our kids. We drew the line at that because we didn't want to be responsible for embryos that died, or for embryos that were destroyed when we got pregnant and didn't want any more.

They are trying to impregnate women and through no one's fault or choice the embryo fails to take.
Where is the equivalency?

See the post right above yours. It's either murder, or it aint. It can't be right in one scenario and wrong in another. So, you would think the wackjobs would be bombing fertility clinics and killing fertility clinic doctors....but I've never heard of it happening.

mr juoshua is right. in the case of fertility clinics they are trying to bring life forward, not end it. unfortunately sometimes an implantation does not succeed, that is a fact of life. same with natural pregnancies, sometimes women miscarry, are you going to suggest that they need to face criminal charges also? how far do you want to take this?
Exactly. How far do you take it? My mom had a miscarriage and her next son died of crib death. Then she had 3 more healthy ones.
But still, you're working on the assumption that embryos will die as the result of a medical procedure. Yet, where is the outrage?
So, it's OK to kill 'em in the name of making a baby? Isn't that a bit harsh?

I support a woman's right to choose what to do with her own womb. I don't believe it becomes the U.S. government's when she gets pregnant. I think fertility clinics are OK, too.
I just think it's weird to condemn one for killing embryos and and to be silent on the other... which also kills embryos. Shouldn't pro-life people be condemning them as loudly as abortion clinics? Shouldn't politicians as well? I think it's obvious why they don't (you'd look pretty bad condemning things that could help a lady get pregnant), but still, how strong are their convictions. Or are convictions merely convenient?
P.S. Had a friend that had to get fertility treatments. It's not cheap.
