Yeah, being more then 8x the number is no big deal.

We should obviously go for a plan supported by made up numbers and vague plans.

I live in the DC area. During the past decade, the funding for defense related agencies has nearly tripled. The military contractors frequently overbill the government by multiples, employ legions of people who literally do nothing or worthless projects that go nowhere and contribute zilch to the advancement of the country.

In contrast, one of the few agencies that actually does something useful for the country, NIH (biomedical research) has had flat funding for the past decade. The Republican goal is not to cut government, but to shovel more of your tax dollars to defense contractors as they have done in the past.

When making (wildly inaccurate) claims, it's usually customary to at least provide some proof......Rhetoric is starting to lose its effect on some people.

Cutting those departments saves a ton of money. So yeah it does help.

High speed rail from Orlando to Tampa? You've got to be kidding.

Government is FAT, and it needs to be trimmed. Not with a scalpal, but with an axe.

There are not 22 million federal employees. There are about 2.65 million federal employees, so by your standards government is already 50% smaller than you already want. Which brings up the question, do you even know what you are talking about?

Aside from the 22 million number being way off, I found his willingness to throw 17 million people into unemployment lines more significant.
Conservative impulsiveness without true thought, as usual.

17 million more unemployed. That should do wonders for the economy.

It may help the government save money in the short term, but then all of those people fired will be receiving COBRA and unemployment benefits, which increases government spending. Those people who lost their jobs will have less money to spend and invest in the economy, so economic activity will drops and businesses will have less demand, so then they fire people who then also need government assistance. The loss of economic activity causes tax revenue to decline, which then increases government debt.

You didn't think your terrible plan all the way through.

The place which has the most bloat of all is the DoD. We need to take a chainsaw to the DoD and related contractors. Come to the DC area and see it for yourself.

But your Republican masters are dependent on military welfare for a living.

Look, I admit I made a mistake, but you folks seem to think that 2.65 million taxpayer funded Federal jobs is just fine. State and local employees add to the number of public employees.

You all seem to think that their contribution to society deserves them ultimate healthcare and pensions for life.

OK, a fireman may save a family. IRS agents are paid by taxpayers to take money from them.

Government does not need to be any bigger than what is basically necessary.

The NEA, the EPA.

All a waste of money and a drag on our economy.

Some folks here seem to think that taxpayer funded Federal jobs stimulate economic activity worthy of preservation.

AmTrak employs 19,000 people. The taxpayers are on the hook. AmTrak has lost money since it's inception.

Justify it.
