That I am aware of, I have not stayed in any hotel in the country since 2006, that did allow smoking.

And you should have that choice. Just as smoker should have the same choice.

It also costs the hotels and motels more money to maintain a room where smokers are because they have to dry clean the drapery and bed spreads more often, not to mention they have to paint more often and replace furniture and counter tops with burn marks more often. The hotels and motels can have a smoker's lounge where smokers can go and the management has a chance to sell them snacks and drinks while they smoke and their insurance rates go down. The law is good for their business.
But now they don't have a choice. A hotel can't have a "smoker rooms" in order to meet the needs of some people.

See, a hotel could have had that policy WITHOUT the law and another hotel could have a different policy in order to cater to smokers.

Now it's being dictated that thou shalt have ever hotel in the state follow a single mandated policy.

It's a foul, disgusting, unhealthy addiction.
<shrug> Then stay at a non-smoking hotel?

I can totally understand not allowing it in places like airplanes and other public confines where the smoking infringes upon my rights. However, this law doesn't allow for a hotel to have a couple smoking rooms down at the end of the building near a smokers lounge.

Don't you remember the attempt to ban fast food restaurants by the far-left berkley nuts because they are unhealthy?

Why don't we just shut down Taco Bell and McD's too?

Why would these states discourage tourism? Tourism is one of Michigan's biggest industries. It's stupid.

If someone smokes in a hotel room -- IT WILL NOT KILL THE FAMILY IN THE NEXT ROOM. Get it Democrats?

Why is it that whenever LIBERALS are in charge ..... AMERICANS lose their FREEDOM?
I smoke a pipe but do fine when I can't smoke indoors. I'm not a nicotine addict whining about a fix like 99.9% of all cigarette smokers do.

In fact, I enjoy not having to smell cigarette stench from brain dead cigarette addicts when I use a motel/hotel that is non-smoking.

Well we could, or people who dont want to eat there may eat elsewhere.

Most don't.

Most don't allow pets either....but some do and likely have a competitive advantage over some places as a result.

Imagine we don't allow ANY hotels to allow pets in the US because they could make noise or mess up a room with odors etc?

Nah.....we must control consumer choice via government edict.

Nanny govt will protect us from the bad bad smoker.

Heh, I don't even smoke...frankly I really dislike it. However, i see a lot of lard butts complaining about unhealthy smokers..... maybe we can FORCE them to exercise and limit where and what they are allowed to eat too.

It's for the good of the people.

Believe me, not all Wisconsin liberals appreciate the fact that we have to now go outside to smoke when we are traveling around our state. There is a hotel where I always stay when I go up north and they tell me they have lost half their bookings since this stupid ban has been in place. Strangely enough people coming to fish, hunt, snowmobile, ski, etc. do not appreciate standing out in the freezing cold when they are trying to relax. What is happening is that now people are renting cabins or going to Minnesota instead of staying in Wisconsin hotels.

If it's good business decision there is no law preventing the hotel/motel owner from implementing a no smoking policy on their own. What part of that do you or any of these other anti smoking zealots not understand?

Suppose I the business owner WANT to cater to smokers, I can't do that when it's against the law.
