What you need to do is insist that these non smoking establishments allow smoking to cater to just your needs, perhaps a law?

Second hand smoke is not a left right issue, no matter how you want to spin it. Smoking is not health and nonsmoker, left OR tight, shouldn't be subjected to someone toxic polution.

My wife and I recently went on vacation down south. Coming back north we discovered that we couldn't get a smoking room at any hotel in WI or MI.

Why would these states discourage tourism? Tourism is one of Michigan's biggest industries. It's stupid.

If someone smokes in a hotel room -- IT WILL NOT KILL THE FAMILY IN THE NEXT ROOM. Get it Democrats?

Why is it that whenever LIBERALS are in charge ..... AMERICANS lose their FREEDOM?

Gosh, I wasn't aware the liberals controlled the hotels. Should we add hotels to that big long list of things us liberals control like the schools and the courts and the media and Hollywood? Do we also control the motels and inns?

Yes, you can raise the price for the rooms but what if they're fully booked and the only ones left are the smoking ones and the customers who want to book are not smokers? Guess where the non smokers will end up staying?

Money talks.

Which is why these laws are not needed.

The tourist associations and the hotel/motel associations pull a lot of weight in the states. If they didn't want the smoke-free laws, they would have fought hard against them. The fact is they didn't put up much of a fight at all because they know it increases their bottom line and they welcome the law to give them an excuse to tell smokers, "Sorry, no."

OK, but what's to stop them from prohibiting smoking in all of their rooms even without a law (like many hotel chains have done nationwide)? Perhaps competition from hotels offering smoking rooms, but that would mean that there is a demand for smoking rooms.

List of smoking bans in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yes, every since one of those bans is a left wing conspiracy. I guess your stays at the Motel 6 must really suck now.

George Orwell was right.
