ever been to a city where there is a large convention in town? there are times when there is just no choice and you have to take what room is available, or move on to the next city.

At the end of the day, they do have a choice. As you said, they can move on to the next city. Or they can forgo attending the convention at all and go back home. There are a lot of things that someone may not like about a certain hotel. Should we regulate all of those things for those times when people have "no choice" and "have to take what room is available"?

Exactly! I've also been in small towns in the midwest where there was only one motel, and the next town was miles away. It's not always as simple as going to the motel across the street.

Lets take this thread to a whole new level.
What if the issue was gay sex. Does the gvmt have a right to tell a hotel owner that he cannot rent a room to 2 people that want to have gay sex?

This isn't a new level, it's a red herring argument.

This is why I generally stay out of such threads. They get personal and nasty. If you don't understand the difference between gay sex and smoking, I'm not going to get into a discussion with you.

Dems like to claim they are for freedoms. Well only if they agree with said freedoms. Other side is just as bad, only different issues.

Carry on sheeple.

But both sides claim that somehow their views do not impact people's freedoms.

Excellent post. I tried to rep you but couldn't.

No it doesn't. They just rant on and on not realizing that they are exposing themselves for anti freedom hypocrites that they are. Because "freedom" only applies to their wants and needs. The market won't provide them a service they want, so they use the government to force others to provide that service. After all, it's not tyrannical or anything, because they agree with it!

If I want to pay a guy a hundred bucks to smoke in a room, and he wants to sell me the room, no one has the right to tell us that we can't engage in a transaction. Period.
