Most of the things that were torched were businesses owned by "other than black". Very few residences were burnt. "Whitey" as you say ran off and hid as usual. He always runs off after he starts crap and it blows up in his face. Especially if he wears a badge. The LAPD ran out of south central faster than somebody in Hell with gasoline drawers! Like the racist cowards they are. When there is 6 of them and one black guy, they are all tough but when there is 500 black guys raising hell and carrying guns, they are not so tough.
I worked at USC at the time. Those businesses that were burned, some of them never came back.
So at the end of the day it hurt the residents,jobs were lost, and instead of having a supermarket around within a couple of miles they had to start driving much further to shop.
Nobody won.
The LAPD did retreat(which was the smart thing to do) that first afternoon because they were not in riot gear and it was only a handful of officers dealing with a very angry crowd.
A white reporter was beaten but was able to make it back to his car, where he was almost dragged out through the window but he had started the car and floored it.
The LAPD was then back in and all over the city where problems were occuring riding 4 to a car in full riot gear.

The funny part about threads like this, is the assumption that it's black people who love to riot, while white people are always meek and peaceful. The truth is, the US has a long and well known history of white people rioting because a black person bought a house on their block, or because a white guy supposedly whistled at a woman, or because of school desegregation, or because the local black community was too wealthy. Hell, the south Spent years, along with hundreds of thousands of lives, in a demented attept to keep black people as slaves. But an, one corrupt police department gets chased out, and suddenly black people love violence.
Right.

The MAIN reason your big stores like Safeway, WalMart and so on aren't in the 'hood is there's NO money to be made because of theft, vandalism and so on. That's why the small mom and pops charge lots of money to cover their losses. That's right: I BLAME the hood rats for why they don't have decent things, NOT Corporate America.
That just makes too much sense for those constantly professing victimhood.

I think he sustained permanent brain damage from that brick bashing in his head. Unforgiveable. As I recall nobody did a day for that crime.
