Real men protect their family and homes from "would be burglars" regardless of age, color, socioeconomic status, etc.

Ignorant cowards hide in a coat closet on the phone with 911 hoping that the cops show up before the 14 year old burglars leave with all their valuables.

Not when they form a plan to kick down a door and break into a home that doesn't belong to them.

I didn't realize children became adults once they endeavor into criminal behavior.

Dramatic headline focuses on age of intruder in this incident while headlines ignore the demographics/ages of violent gang members of the same age.

I didn't realize that my life or my family's life became less important if the person kicking in the back door was under the age of 18.

And you really think this man's actions were the best way to handle the situation? Really? Nothing else he could have reasonably done to dissuade these kids from burglarizing his home short of shooting and killing a 14 year old?

No, they're not. Old enough to commit B&E, you are no longer a "child".

Technically they are now teenagers, not children.

And yes, per the law, the crime committed dictates their legal "age".

Dissuade them from committing a crime? Seriously? Was there nothing the law, society or their parents could do to dissuade them from committing a crime? These thugs had already made their decision, in spite of all the things that should have dissuaded them.

So you do think shooting and killing this kid was this man's best and/or only option? Really?
