There was a witness, Martin's girlfriend who was talking to Martin on the phone at the time. She said Martin was afraid of the man following him. Therefore, Martin clearly felt threatened by Zimmerman.
BTW, how does one "stand their ground" when they leave their ground(Zimmerman) to follow someone?
In this case the internet was critical. It also prompted more media attention. Bombingham, Alabama of the 60s fell due to the attention it got. Shining a light on evil always pushes people who would otherwise not do the right thing to change their ways, and do the right thing.
Now the process of justice has finally begun. The evil murderer is staring at the closed doors of a jail cell as we type our posts.
It is a sad day in America when an innocent man is charged with murder for defending himself against a criminal who was in the process of finding houses to break into. Very sad day indeed.
First *peers* sorry, I proofread for a living and it is bugging me
Second yes, I would accept the verdict as just that, the verdict (with no rioting, etc.). What happened today is what the majority of us have wanted, justice; in this case, justice is Zimmerman being charged after a thorough investigation of this matter. Now it's time to let the attorneys work and hopefully this does go to trial.
The problem is that we don't arrest folks because the majority want it. It has to be based on the facts as per our constitution. Too many people during the run up to today were throwing around arresting him very nonchalantly that is what initially turned me off to the Pro-Martin camp.
I actually believe he was casing homes to burglarize later in the week. I go by that based on Zimmerman's characterization of him and him previously being caught with burglary tools.

It smelled of a witch hunt, it still does.
Yes BUT, as days went by more evidence was released (and of course there is still evidence that we all don't even know of) and this evidence showed that there possibly is another side than that of George Zimmerman's. Since evidence has been gathered for both sides, the obvious thing to do would be to put it in front of a judge/jury.

We'll see how this plays out.
Believe whatever you want, but thinking someone was casing homes to burglarize later can not be proved unless Trayvon Martin himself was alive.
