You are citing a study that correlates infectious disease with geographical IQ levels as ammunition in a thread about attitudes towards LGBT lifestyles?
Well, yeah, but this thread is about GLBT and what they want. All the anti-gays would feel that way about that source, wouldn't we. They even use their own reports about us and their IQs.
No, but you need to read more yourself. I doubt you will, however since you have made it abundantly clear that you are not interested in actually learning anything, but wish to stay comfortably esconsed behind your preconceptions about the state.
.....I read they voted down gay marriage by something like 80%. That is a LOT of bigoted idiots, North Carolina was only 56% even with unusually high Republican primary turnout and low Democratic turnout. Mississippi is mostly an ignorant hate filled state and there is a reason other states compare other states to it only as an insult.

You are basing your accessment of the state on your opinion of a vote - not the strongest case you could make. Go back - do your homework - and tell me what else you learn.
I think you have to realize that the U.S. is not exactly alone in the amount of homophobia in its culture. It is far better than many nations, and conditions have improved remakably since the days when in New York State homosexuals were not even supposed to be served alcohol in a licensed premises.
That said, it seems wherever there is a strong patriarichal structure, and a deeply macho zeitgeist in the culture, this usually goes along with religious superstition - all combining to produce an atmosphere of homophobia...among other undesirable social problems.
The U.S. has a strong streak of this in the makeup of its national culture, and it has received encouragement by some politicians. Simply read the religion forum in C-D and you will be shocked at the depth of irrationality and superstition amongst a very large number of religious believers, and that is totally aside from any questions of homophobia. People who are seriously worried about witches and demons and demonic possession to mention just one bit of looniness, are simply beyond reasoning with on any point.
Be grateful to live a country where the entire population is not similarly inclined.
But pretending behavior is perverse and immoral when it is not... IS bigotry. Especially when a rational defensible basis for declaring it either perverse or immoral is never forthcoming when sought.
