Congress enacts and repeals laws, not Presidents. The ONLY way this law will be repealed is through at least 60% of the vote in both the House and Senate, AND Romney must win. If all three of these things do not come to pass, the law goes into effect in 2014.
He said he was going to, essentially, grant everyone a waiver. That's how he can get around it, so to speak.

The medicaid part of this decision gave the states the right to opt out. How will that work?

The decision says Congress cannot penalize states whom choose not to participate, but does not clearly define how that will work. Again, this might be a mess.

Tax increase across the board. Congratulations, you are all 1 percenters in the President's eyes.

Aetna, Humana, et al officials in WH now popping champagne with Obama to celebrate.

Can I revive the buggy whip industry by forcing everyone to buy a horse and carriage now?

I still don't understand. Was it not the FORCING you to buy something part that was in question and not how they were going to penalize you? That's exactly what we've been hearing for many months. Obama wanted to use the Commerce clause to FORCE you to buy a product, you can't use taxation to force you to buy something either I would think, because it's the FORCING you to buy something part that was in question, not how you were to get penalized. I must be missing something.

Well its a massive increase in governmental abilities. Requiring that everyone buy something is now constitutional.

Scary times.

Exactly. Basically if your states opts out, you could have just gotten a pretty significant tax raise.

Who controls what taxes we pay? Would this rule by the Supreme Court make it easy to remove the health care tax and do away with health care completely?

BTW for those of you that are saying Obama won; I would say this assures Romney of being the next president. This health care plan is very unpopular and a total mess, so to get rid of it one would think that you would need to vote out the rascal that caused the mess in the first place. You don't think Obama is going to do anything to get rid of it, do you. LOL

Goodbye Obama; goodbye health tax.

Another thought: Will this put pressure on the government to rid our country of those here that are not documented. You don't think our citizens are going to want to be footing the bill for next door neighbors while they are paying no taxes and we are taxed to the hilt? We are doing that already, but some people don't realize it.

The tax can be repealed with a simple majority if I'm understanding correctly.

Looks like this issue is done, oh I am sure some on the right will try and continue to fight against it but once the highest court in the land says it is legal and that is that.
Wrong on both counts.

People HAVE gone to jail for NOT paying their taxes.

The issue is NOT done. Read into the Medicare parts about the ruling and how it applies to the states.
