That man works for MSNBC and this may well be his saddest performance of the whole election cycle. Oh yes, I said election because that is what Matthews thought he was referring to. You must read the last two sentences of the article to see just how stupid Matthews really is.
Well that is assuming a lot such as the end of the bush tax cuts for the wealthy and the 40% would only apply to short term investors. Most everyone else it would BE somewhere around 25%, which is still less than the highest tax bracket. Seems headed in the right direction though.
I would add that this will further depress the real estate economy sector as well. There is also that cap gain tax that applies to real estate of 3.8%.
Here's a decent explanation about that tax. It won't affect everyone but could have a substantial effect upon those that live in high real estate cost areas.
So you don't like social security and medicare? They don't have that in Ethiopia. I thought you might like that.
You'd have to pick another country
No Medicare for over 65, but Ethiopia has universal health care of sorts
Health insurance covers all employees in the country via payroll tax of private and public institutions.
It's mandatory for taxpayers to take out insurance, except if you are not a taxpayer e.g. farmer - one can opt
in or out. The costs are paid by funds collected from individuals, employers and government subsidy.
Insurance Premiums are calculated by income but the benefits are the same for everyone.
Well you rich folks better start looking at your portfolios. Next year taxes on cap gains/dividends will shoot to over 40%
Medicare surtax on investments.
Meaning you might have to contribute along with the riff-raff or, horrors, get a job alongside them? Nah - not at 40% though, too bad - but I certainly understand the fear.
It ain't pretty where the commoners live.
