If the President were White would you still call this racism ?
Was there a significant period in American history I am unaware of in which white people were striped of their freedoms and being lynched solely due to the color of their skin?

That has zero relevancy to the discussion at hand.

What part of it isn't relevant? The part regarding if our president was white? Because in that I would agree with you.
Or are you saying that the fact that for most of the history of our country black men and women were lynched for no other reason than the color of their skin is not relevant to a discussion about an angry old white man hanging a representation of a black man from a tree?

You are trying to make a connection between lynching and the chair. There is none. The chair was attached to the tree so that attention would be drawn to it. I have explained this in my posts above. The only people who think that this is a racial issue are those with overactive imaginations and who think that everything is about race.
I also note that you describe the president as a black man. That proves my point - some people can't see anyone for anything but the color of their skin. I thought that we had gotten past that.
Also - where do you get the idea that this man is "angry"? He disagrees with the president's policies - how does that equate to "angry"?
I thought the guy said he put the chair on the rope so he could mow his yard? Either way its bs. If ppl wanna play dumb about the meaning of this it's fine...however it's not fooling anyone...

I'm not trying to do anything. I already said, I didn't think he intended it to be racist, so please don't suggest I am saying things I am not. Regardless of his intentions the connection is there. He said it represented Obama. That you, and he, didn't see a connection doesn't matter. To many others it is clear as day and highly insulting, regardless of intentions.
If he was just trying to get attention (which he certainly got! lol) he screwed up. The way he went about it was obviously not the best way to do so.

Oh, please. Now you are just trying to be silly? The President IS a black man. And a proud black man. That I acknowledged that, does in no way mean that is the first or only thing I see in him. Seriously? How in the world does me saying Obama is a black man mean that I "can't see anyone for anything but the color of their skin?"

So apparently you haven't even watch it. Why are you even having this discussion if you can't even be bothered to watch the video?
19 people can't put two and two together. You cant lynch the chair that represents the first AA President and say its not racist.
Actually the chair doesn't represent him; it represents that he's NOT there...empty chair.
If he truly wanted to "lynch the President" then just hang an effigy like they did with Bush.

Who's "they?"
It probably was racist. It's the south. I love it when people self-identify. That way I know how to handle them in life.
