Did you really just equate hanging a representation of a black man from a tree to a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?
Both are being seen as forms of racism.
The guy hung a chair by a rope and then stuck a flag on it. You see a Black man getting lynched, I didn't.
The guy took the chair down because he said it didn't represent a lynching of a Black man.
What if the President were White ?
What if the guy who hung the chair were Black ?
And yes, in Portland they are debating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as racist because peanut butter and jelly sandwiches represent White elitism.
I support Obama and I agree the current behavior of some of the American public towards its duly elected leaders is an embarrassing display of ignorance and inappropriate. But didn't someone throw a shoe at Bush? Those kinds of idiotic offensive attacks are not new with Obama.
Yes, but wasn't that during his visit to Iraq? That doesn't have anything to do with what I'm talking about....

Yeah, I mentioned that.

The president just happens to be a black man. The symbolism is that the president is "not there" - which I happen to agree with. The president is hopelessly out of touch with the American people and he is incompetent.
Hanging the chair was only done to draw attention to it - anyone can put a chair in the yard - and no one will look twice. You have an overactive imagination.
Now if the president were white and the homeowner were black - would you be screaming "racism!"?
He hung the chair to draw attention to it - like he said - some people are stupid and they let misconceptions turn the statement into something that it was not.
Why do you seem to have the idea that any criticism of President Obama must have racial undertones? Aren't we supposed to have gotten past that in this republic? Can't the man be critiicized based on the content of his character and the results of his actions rather than by the color of his skin?
Seriously - the only racists appear to be the people who see racial connotations in everything.
Lots of closet racists around here who won't man up and be real to the world(and themselves)...
