Ban all lobbying organizations and set strict public financing rules on all political campaigns. Most special interest groups that receive favors get them by indirect bribery and the revolving door system. Shut that down and many of your problems will go away.

Really, it's all about the funds. That is the main way govt owns everything. Getting those back to working for the people that funded them will take away the big credit card.

ALEC is certainly a sick product of our current system.

we all live in this system of credit availability and asset ownership which determines a great deal of the success of different americans. it may not be romantic as the frontier but it is today's modern reality.

IMO the only way to understand what's going on in america is to understand the credit markets. Schiff doesn't; i will watch your videos when i get time, and maybe provide a rebuttal, but for now it should be noted that Peter Schiff has established himself a reasonably smart ideologue with a flawed understanding and a long track record of 'getting it wrong'
You're forming an opinion on Schiff BEFORE listening to him?

Ummmm...ok.

Lightbulb How Do We Rid America of Lazy Freeloaders Who Leech Off of Government?

It'll take awhile.

We didn't get into this position overnight and it'll take a generation or more to get out of it.

Social welfare:

End the policies that encourage generational welfare families.

Make birth control free and easily available.

Stop the graduated system of payments that reward recipients for producing more welfare babies.

Corporate welfare:

End no bid contracts.

Give military service functions back to the military and make Halliburton and similar contractors do something productive instead of parasitic.

Stop boondogle spending on pie-in-the-sky weapon systems still designed to deal with a Cold War world that no longer exists.

Stop subsidizing profitable corporate entities who post record earnings - like big oil. They should be giving back to the public, not the other way around.

That's my two-minute answer.

The OP did mention Big Bus also. These companies are govt owned, that's why they get the breaks.

That is very true. ALEC is government by gangsterism. The only difference is that since they can write the laws they side step all of the criminal issues.

Nothing makes me laugh harder then when people say, what they are doing is OK because they are not violating any laws.

The 2012 Republican primary was the perfect example of this, monied interests essentially muscled their way in to the GOP machine to ensure Romney would not have any problems with the other candidates. I have never seen a primary where so many serious candidates were kept off ballots against their wishes and where the party was so actively involved in promoting a weak candidate that had no strong support. It is pretty bad.

I think this thread stinks.

We are still in a big recession with high unemployment, and a lot of your fellow citizens cannot put food on the table or find a job. If you are lucky enough to have a job, quit yer damn whining.

This is a decent topic, but the timing is terrible.
