So announced months ago vs announced yesterday. Still getting laid off. Thought the economy was growing?
Did you miss the part where I explained that many of those medical device manufacturers (Medtronic, Smith & Nephew, Abbott Labs, Stryker, Boston Scientific) export heavily to Europe? Austerity means government cutbacks, and in Europe, government cutbacks mean health-care cutbacks.
How exactly is it Obama's fault that Europe can't get its fiscal act together?
I've been with my company for 10 years (medical device industry). It's much better now than it was even 5 years ago.
There will always be a company laying people off, no matter how the economy is doing.
My company -- which serves the medical-device industry -- is having its best year ever, earning 50% more revenue than last year. This year we've increased our workforce by about 30%.

Thank you, Obama!
My division is thriving as well... we hired about 100 more people this year and almost doubled profits. Will be a nice bonus check this year!
They aren't folding up shop and laying off their entire workforce.
They could have a high number of layoffs, but the figures I've heard are possibly up to about 10,000 employees worldwide might be at risk. Not a good figure, but it's yet to be seen how much defense spending cuts will affect them in the coming years.
"Skaneatles Falls, NY -- Welch Allyn told employees at companywide meetings this morning that it plans to cut 275 jobs, or about 10 percent of its worldwide workforce.
About 45 workers were told today that they will lose their jobs at the company's headquarters in Skaneateles Falls."
"The uncertainty surrounding the future of the Obama health care package is creating turmoil in the domestic market, Meyer said. Hospitals and doctor offices aren't investing in new equipment until they see how the health care issues will play out, Meyer said.
Welch Allyn and other medical device makers face a new federal tax hike come January when a new 2.3 percent tax on sales of medical devices called for under the Affordable Care Act takes effect, he said."

Didn't say it's Obama's fault that Europe can't get it's act together. Just noting that you failed to mention the 2.3% tax now on medical devices thanks to Obamacare. Might have something to do with layoffs and moves to Europs, no?
Here come the layoffs...and they're just now beginning.
Welch Allyn - 275 layoffs
Dana Holding Corp.- estimated 2,500 layoffs
Stryker - 585 layoffs
Boston Scientific - 1,400 layoffs
Medtronic - 1,000 layoffs
Lockheed-Martin - 123,000 layoffs
West Ridge Mine - 102 layoffs
American Coal - 54 layoffs
Utah American Energy - 102 layoffs
Smith & Nephew - 770 layoffs
Abbott Labs - 700 layoffs
Covidien - 595 layoffs
Kinetic Concepts - 427 layoffs
St. Jude Medical - 300 layoffs
Hill Rom - 200 layoffs
RIM - 5,000 layoffs
Hopefully the vast majority of the layoffs are people who voted for Obama.
I am guessing those that were laid off by; Medtronics,Abbott labs or St.Jude medical were laid off due to Obamacare and they most likely did NOT vote for Obama... Medtronics & St.Jude Medical are medical device companies and Abbott Labs is a healthcare company.... All Obamacare reated
