At White House Request, Lockheed Martin Drops Plan to Issue Layoff Notices - ABC News
It all depends on sequestration.
It was a month, not days, before the election.
And the whole world knew about the defense cuts and the possibility of layoffs because of military cutbacks.

Until there was a vote, there was no reason to hand out notices.

The pink slips were supposed to be sent out "days" before the election. Look it up.

And do you think it is right that the president protected his job and didn't care about people who are going to lose their jobs. Do you think it is right that the tax payers will have to pay the legal fees because the military didn't send out the pink slips.

All to protect the president.

LOL, heaven forbid that anyone should put their partisan bias spin on it. That would make them ... exactly like Obama.

Let's wait and see what the Labor Participation Rate looks like in a year. It's been dropping like a rock every year Mr O has been in. All the other stats get manipulated and are unreliable because of that. If we're in an actual recovery and the GOP is just lying about it, the numbers will set the record straight. It's very simple. If the percentage of working aged Americans with jobs keeps dropping the economy is getting worse and not better. If the median household income keeps dropping then things are getting worse. I haven't seen an uptick in either yet since January of 2009.

Of course the next bit will be, "Well, Obama can't really have any impact on the economy." If that was the case all along, he shouldn't have ever claimed he could fix it when he knew he couldn't.

Nearly two years later, Elliott announced that the company would be cutting anywhere between 1,200 and 1,400 jobs, while simultaneously shifting investments and workers overseas - to China" [1]

The pink slips are supposed to be handed out 60 days prior to a layoff occurring. With sequestration looming on January 1st (or 4th or whatever), you would think that November 1st would make sense.

However, it was determined that if sequestration did indeed occur, no contractors would be required to be laid off on January 1st. Except for a small minority of contracts that need to be renewed in early January, all contractors are on contract vehicles that mainly run for one year. That means that if you are working on an active contract and it has a period of performance end date of July 31, 2013, your funds were obligated and you would continue to work until July 31, 2013. Even if sequestration occurred. The government cannot cut obligated funds. These are funds that we already have budgeted and are obligated. They cannot be pulled back. Now, if you were unfortunate enough to be on a contract vehicle that expired on December 31, 2012--it is very likely that your contract would get caught up in sequestration. These people know who they are.

So, it would actually be quite foolish for contractors to issue layoff notices when the majority of them WILL NOT and DON"T NEED to lay these workers off on January 1st. I do think it is time, though, where they could be looking at their contracts that expire in late Februray and March. Those notices could be issued at the end of November and December.

And while a contract can expire at any time, I work on contracts all day long and the majority of DoD contracts expire on 31 Jan, 30 Jul, and 31 Dec.

Well out of the two recent new unemployed young people i know, who both got laid off. One did not vote for the fool, one did.

Just days after the Obama win, and BOOM BOOM BOOM, laid off.

The one who did, i am now laughing at him, he is the fool who voted for Obama, i have no pity on him. Sorry, when there is a fire, you want to put the fire out, not want to go in one.

He asked for it, and he can deal with the consequences. The other person i feel sorry for. Really deep down, i feel sorry for both of these young guys, they have families, but when we have had 4 years of pure hell, really think it is going to change for the better.

Your going to see, my investor, says the worse is yet to come, and he has been right on the money. He is a very smart man, and can see where we are going, and it still ain't good.
If you voted for Obama, and get fired, you got what you deserve.

Keep trying because there are many of them that are not defense related who have already announced lay offs. Maybe Mr. Mon will take a peek at some of your links sooner or later.

Naw, none of these are caused by the coming of Obamacare, at least in your mind.

Yep, many small business owners will just drop their company supplied health care policies and pay the fine which will be less money than continuing to pay the health care premiums. That will certainly save them money in the long run.
