Why do you think the selling has been going on in the market? Folks will shift their money around. I see the fed is setting up another housing bubble to be inflated. Yippee.

Is it just me or does "Secure Choice Pension" sound kinda Orwellian?

The average projected life was like 59 years when SS was created in the 1930s.
This means if one managed to live 6 years beyond the projection, they got the benefit no matter what they contributed.
It took the collective earning power of the baby boom to get the WW@ generation through.

What has changed is projected life and the medical costs associated with old age.

Using the same logic that was in place when SS was created, people should not be eligiblee for a SS pull till their 80's.

With 10,000 people turning 65 each day for the next 20 years, something has to give. And I say this as someone who is a tad closer to 65 than I am to 45.

You say when politicians get out of the way.....

It is the politicians to begin with that start the wars and give the military it's orders.
Either politicians are incompetent or they are not. You can't say politicians are 99% worthless and go along with them 1% on their warmongering plans.

Question for those in the know. Is this a mandate or another choice. There is a stark difference. Nothing wrong with having more choices, you either choose it or you don't as compared to a mandate. No need to get people up in arms over a choice they can choose not to do.

1987: 28 %

In other words, capital gains were taxed at less than 20% in only 7 out of the past 70 years. There is nothing in our history or experience that says that unearned income has to be taxed this lightly. It’s not a time-honored principle. Should the very wealthy like Warren Buffet and Mitt Romney pay the same % as most?

So you can raise that top rate to 40% if you want to but you must understand that has consequences and the ability of venture capitalist to go elsewhere is growing at an enormous rate.

Something will have to give that's for sure. Many younger folks don't even expect it to be around when they get to that point yet they sit and allow the government to take that money every check with no complaints. I honestly don't understand the mindset. No politicians will touch it because the other side will immedialty start screaming that they are trying to starve old people and on and on. Everybody just sits around and kicks the old can along towards the cliff. Look at Ryan. He at least brought up this type issue and was vilified for it.

You give them orders then get out of the way and let them do their job. If you have paid any attention at all the last 40 years that is not how things have gone at all in any wars. Congress has the power to start wars whether you like it or not according to the Constitution. Of course that hasn't stopped anybody either though.

My daughter complains about FICA deductions all the time. I tell her this is the price she has to pay to not have to take me in and wipe my butt and pay my medical bills for the last 20 years of my life.
