Unfortunately, you are right. They use the system for their own gain and see nothing wrong with a president who does the same. They see themselves as entitled and him as entitled while conservatives see themselves and their president as responsible. To them the president is the king of the users of the system for financial gain. They expect him to use the system and flaunt it. He's their king. Their royalty. The example of how to best use the system for your own gain. They would expect no less.

Anybody who actually believes that anybody is spending "millions on vacations" demonstrates several different levels of ignorance.

1. Most of those "millions" are sunk costs which would be spent even if Obama stayed in DC.

2. Most of those "millions" are spent because a President cannot actually take a "vacation" at all, and must always be accompanied by the resources needed to do the job of President.

3. Most of those "millions" are actually dictated by law, not by the whims of the President.

But I know... never let this sort of stuff get in the way of a good partisan whine.

A president serving during a recession (and we are in one) should be expected to be frugal. It is not a stretch to ask the president to cut costs on his own vacations when we are cutting costs by bugeting groceries or deciding who gets a new coat this year. His vacations are a slap in the face to every American suffering under this economy. How many meals could that $4 million buy? How many coats for kids who have none because dad lost his job?

Yes, I expect my president to forego expensive vacations when people can't find jobs and are going hungry. It's the LEAST I should be able to expect. AND this is coming at a time when he should be working on that fiscal cliff!!!!!! He's not a leader. He uses the system just like the people who elected him only he uses it to take expensive vacations. He's their role model. They aspire to find a way to use the system like he does.

How much more is it costing to go to Hawaii than Camp David or back to Illinois or anywhere else?

$4 million could go a long way to helping the storm victims.

This extremely expensive luxury vacation just proves how very little Obama cares about Americans facing fiancial difficulty.

So could a bazillion-gajillion. But since neither $4 million nor a bazillion-gajillion would be saved by not taking this "vacation," it really doesn't matter.

Yawn. When will right wingers ever get tired of trying the same old bullsh*t that the recent election proves nobody believed the last time? How is it that the Republican party simply cannot glean the tiniest shred of a lesson from their disasters?

Unfortunately most of it will be paid for by those of us that did not vote for him.

He could cancel his vacation and go help with storm clean up. That would be a good example for other citizens. Imagine that--Obama doing something good for a change.

He talks the talk now he needs to learn to walk the walk. LOL That'll be the day! Elitist don't do work, they supervise others that do.

It's an annual thing - a "tradition," just like putting up Christmas lights and watching Christmas movies.

I haven't read the whole thread yet but I expect to see some of this: How dare the Obamas drag those poor Secret Service guys out of snowy D.C. and plop them down in paradise for a couple of weeks!

Has the Obamas Christmas card been released yet? That's always good for about a gazillion threads, too.
