Functionally speaking, I understand. Not going to argue the point. It just helps me understand some perspective on why the life inside is not a big deal.
I never said it wasn't a big deal, it is actually a huge deal that is potentially life changing for the people involved. I think it is very important to let a woman have the chance to make that choice if she is ready for that life change.

I have known girls back in my early 20s that got knocked up and had to make the choice to not carry a baby to term, the ones that have later in life had kids were much more prepared and are much better parents because they made that choice.

I have also known women who have gotten knocked up in their early 30s and decided to keep the baby even though they had no plans staying with the baby daddy, but are in a much more responsible position to be taking care of a child.

Stupid thinking if people think fertilization won't happen from sexual activity.

So since we going back and forth on this - why should my tax dollars be paid for stupid thinking?
Can't answer that for you, why does my tax dollars go to pay for stupid things?

Also, have you never had sex for the fun of sex? When my fiancee and I have sex, it has nothing to do with creating a baby and we are definitely not in the position to have a kid yet, but that doesn't mean we aren't going to have sex just because we don't want a kid yet.

If you didn't want to go there....why did YOU bring it up?

Kinda like someone deciding they don't want to become a parent after the deed is done, huh? LOL

Of course they enjoy it, but they don't have the same reproductive pattern that humans do. Most animals ONLY mate during the female estrus, to maximize perpetuating their species.

The odds are against it. I'd have to look it up to be sure, but IIRC, the chances of getting pregnant any given month are about 25%. And each pregnancy has about a 25% chance of making it to term. We are, I believe, the only species that doesn't have sex just during the female's estrus, since human females give no reliable external sign that they are in their fertile time.

Your tax dollars do not go for abortions. The Hyde Amendment and tight audits on PP and other abortion providers ensure that. They can spend donated funds for abortions, but not federal funds. Of course, you already know this, and have problems with it anyway.

15 states allow the state portion of medicaid to be used for abortions, elective abortions.
So your statement is not 100% accurate anymore.
For some people YES, their tax dollars are paying for abortions.

I just think we are way off base when killing humans in the womb is called planning parenthood.

I think we are way off base when we lack self-control and have sexual intercourse, yet don't want to deal with the life that results.

No way we should be having over 1.3 million abortions. And I certainly should not be paying for any of them through taxes.

Uh, no. Nobody was killed by my shutting down that avenue of conversation.

I brought it up to make a note of it - but I know how race dominates around here. And I started the thread - didn't want it to be a major issue. So I am exercising self-control in not getting started in that direction.

Actually it is not called planned parenthood it is called abortion. The organization Planned Parenthood do many more things than abortions which is only a very small part of what they do. Of course people who are anti-choice only see the abortions and don't see anything else.

Well I hate to break it to you, but we are all human and it is rare for a human to have sexual intercourse only to procreate. What if a married couple with three children who don't want any more and have taken proper precautions to prevent pregnancy yet still get pregnant. Abortion should be a choice left to the mother and father of the future child.

I am guessing you live in Texas, so your taxes aren't paying for abortions, heck your taxes aren't even funding Planned Parenthood right now.

And I really don't care. Boo Hoo. My tax dollars go to pay for a lot of things I don't agree with.

Why should pro-lifers be coddled? What makes their sensibilities more important than mine or anyone elses?
