I'm not a Democrat! But thanks for playing. Furthermore, I'm not trying to take away your rights or freedoms, but it appears that you ARE OK with deciding what others can and cannot do! And that is why I can't fully align with Republicans either. They're all for small government, except when it comes to other people's personal choices that they don't agree with. You can't have it both ways!
Again, just because it's "the law" it doesn't make it a just or moral law. And you'll have to excuse me, I cannot in good conscience label someone who smokes pot a criminal! I consider criminals to be those who rob, steal, assault, murder, embezzle...ect.... Those are CRIMINALS! Not someone who wants to smoke a joint in his or her living room, in his or her free time. So you follow the law, because it's the law? What if they passed a law saying that it was OK to kill of those who had Downs Syndrome, or something silly as it's OK to kill everyone who is left handed? Hey, it's the law right? So we gotta follow it!

I agree with conservatives on many issues but this one makes no sense. They will fight the legalization of a safe substance just as hard as they will same sex marriage and abortion. The thing is, there is no religious ban on marijuana usage so it can't be fought from that angle. They are for personal liberties until it comes to something pleasurable then they fight it tooth and nail. Just like alcohol and tobacco, marijuana should be a personal choice as long as one doesnt get behind the wheel while under the influence. We need a serious libertarian candidate who will bring back the principles this country was founded on.

Don't you love this "Chicken Little" mentality? My company doesn't pry into to the private lives of their employees, but I know if that if someone came in under the influence on company time they'd be let go.
If a bill ever does come out legalizing weed best read the details because it will most likely give many from employers do your doctors etc. the right to pry into your private life. Don't think the government will give us citizens anything without taking what they want in return.

You're probably right. Pretty effed up if you ask me. Companies want to be free to operate, and hire how they choose, but then they want to act like a bunch of fascists and act like parent to their employees and that is hypocrisy. There has to be balance, and currently we don't have that. It should be, can I do the job, yes or no? End of f***n' story!

You are right, it was liberal policies that banned it to begin with, just like the tobacco nazis today are mostly liberals. In 2013 though, it's mostly establishment Republicans fighting tooth and nail to keep it illegal. Informed people, both liberal and conservative, support legalization and that is refreshing to see. However, we still probably have decades to go before legalization could pass the ballot box due to so many uninformed voters simply voting the way the establishment tells them. Arkansas in this last election is case-in-point.
I also wonder if the alcohol lobby has anything to do with it. I know if marijuana were legal, I would happily trade my two beers to wind down after work for a bowl.
