Why is it that people can't actually debate topics w/o falling back on using political labels? (i.e. "you bunch of RWNJ" or "you dumb DemocRATS!") There is no damn debate! All we have are people calling others names based on politics. It's no wonder the rest of the world can't or won't respect us!

Agreed. Demonizing the other side is not conducive to anything but getting into a childish schoolyard fight, as other posters are showing in this thread.
I may be a tried and true liberal with some sprinkles of what others believe to be conservative (i.e.: I'm rather pro-gun) but I'm the first to admit that much of my rather socialist ideals simply just won't work in America as it stands now, and changing everything isn't an immediate solution.
What we need to do is actually sit both sides down together, talk stuff out, and try to work towards a common solution.

And there you go. People like Robin are so caught up in the propaganda and rhetoric, they refuse to see that most Americans share many common goals outside of the contrived political conversation right or left. To people who see the world like this, there is no gray area, just, "I'm right and everybody else is a scum bag."
