How do you know. Based on what experience, education research that you have done how do you know it is a very honest depiction. Because I, after 10 years of being married to a foreign woman have alot of experience, have read volumes of research and met or become friends with thousands of these couples and none of this rings true to me.

It speaks to your feminist agenda and slams a segment of the population you fear.

Im glad you found it soothing

I loved the part where the filmmaker asked the old White man what the Asian woman got out of the "arrangement" and he had absolutely no answer. And I especially loved the part where the Asian woman (two days after the wedding) said that she would need to work hard and save money to get eventually get away from the old White man and that she couldn't go back to China due to the embarrassment and public humiliation that she would face.

You think? Excuse me if I could GAF about what you think. When you want to bring something to the discussion beyond your racist bias and fear of something you dont understand then we can regard your opinion as valid

"Yellow fever"? Could PBS have used a more racist term to describe Asians?

There's nothing new about ethnic or racial fetishes. White males are as fetishized by Asian women as vice versa.

I believe they used the term which is used for the fetish. This is a fetish, after all. It isn't apple pie at your grandma's house. It's kind of a nasty thing.

On the part of the men, this is my dime store analysis:

I think the men are kind of shallow people who don't think about things too much - and many are probably anti-social, narcissistic or have other "personality disorders" (which, for the record, I don't "believe" in, but for the sake of this discussion, I will lump their neuroses into a pathology) . . . I do think they are horribly stunted, emotionally and not in touch with reality.

Example: It would not even occur to them that a super-attractive woman might not find them fascinating and lust for them . . .and that is just weird. When they look in the mirror, they don't see what you and I see . . .they seem some Greek God . . .somehow they feel they are entitled to a fantasy girl/woman.

I also think they sexually fetish-ize these girl/women - they are not "real" people to these men - merely dolls who serve their master's every whim (have you read some of the comments about how some people think they love to clean, etc.) . . .

On the women's part, I think it is simply a survival tactic - they feel they are bettering themselves and their situations - I don't necessarily think they are neurotic - but the men are sick and twisted and kinky

Says the self proclaimed queen of everything. If the pool is full of like minded women its no wonder men get on the plane to find a partner. Yet another ignorant feminist pushing ugly stereotypes based on half baked opinions

In my opinion, Asian women would be far better off getting an Asian American man, since on average, they are educated, great providers and very family oriented.

(The odds of finding a virgin his own age are zero, and the odds of a young American girl wanting to have anything to do with him are worse) He visits her a couple of times a year, and the visits are chaperoned 24/7. I don't know if he's even kissed her. They've been "engaged" for close to 5 years now. He's paying for her family's housing costs and for the girl to go to college--he's basically supporting all of them. Every time he pushes for her to come to the US, her family comes up with some type of objection to wait a little longer. At some point, she's going to dump him after she gets everything she wants. It's a train wreck waiting to happen.

What a PATHETIC story, sounds like a pathetic guy....maybe someone should reveal to him the magic of internet porn!

Truthfully, I feel bad for these women. It's not like they are getting anything special.
