Why do you automatically assume Trayvon was faster than Zimmerman?

Because thats what people do here. They assume all the time. They think they know everyone involved. He just know that Treyvon is faster because he on Team Martin. And if you are on team Zimerman you know Zimmerman like a brother. Its all pretty ridiculous.
How about leave all the emotions out of it and stop speculations and look at the facts instead.
An unidentified, off duty police officer purportedly attacked a friend of Zimmermans. How does standing up for a friend make a neighborhood less safe? In fact, he was doing the same there as he was with NW, attempting to defend a weaker person from an attack.
I find it amazing how many of those that are always so quick to attack the police in other threads, are so quick to support an out-of-uniform, off duty officer in this case.
In April of 2012, the FBI interviewed the law enforcement officers involved in the incident.
Their report states that in July of 2005 agents performed an undercover operation at a bar near the University of Central Florida. Several bar employees that sold drinks to an underage undercover operator were arrested.

While the state law enforcement agents were processing the prisoners, George Zimmerman approached the prisoners and asked the prisoner what was going on. Agent Fleischman informed Zimmerman that he was a state law enforcement agent, showed Zimmerman his badge, and told him to wait off to the side and Fleischman would explain to him what was going on after the agents were finished with the prisoners.
Zimmerman had an angry demeanor and told Fleischman that he did not care who he was. Fleischman attempted to escort Zimmerman away from the scene. Zimmerman then shoved Fleischman, at which point all of the agents on the scene pushed Zimmerman onto the hood of (another agent's) car and placed him under arrest for battery on a law enforcement officer.
This was confirmed by 4 law enforcement officers. I believe them, not George Zimmerman. It shows how aggressive Zimmerman is.
Because it's an evil, "double action only" handgun, without a safety switchie. If you ever have to use it to protect your life, some ignorant prosecutor will make a big issue of the lack of the safety switchie to paint you as a vile, vicious, racist bastage who has been waiting to murder a kid with a bag of Skittles. Better would be a single shot, break-open .22, so long as it has a safety switchie. And of course as long as you don't carry it in such a dangerous way as to have a "bullet" in the tube thingie.

I have to wonder if "overloaded handguns without safety switchies" will become the next drumbeat of the more ignorant in the MSM and the anti-gun movement.

George Zimmerman's story (and multiple lies) do not add up.
GZ stated that TM jumped out the bushes and attacked him....there are NO bushes in that area at all
GZ claimed that TM grabbed his gun....TM's fingerprints were not on the gun
GZ told the police that his gun was in his back and that TM was straddling him at his armpits....this would have made it IMPOSSIBLE for TM to know that he had a gun let alone grab his gun
The only way that TM saw the gun was because GZ pulled his weapon on TM and threatened him. Upon seeing that gun TM naturally fought for his life.
George Zimmerman may have killed the only other witness to his crime...but God is watching.
There are bushes & he said he reached for the gun.
I'm sure that TM didn't stay in one position when he was beating the crap out of him. Parties tend to move when they're assaulted - both the victim (GZ) and the aggressor (TM).
But there is nothing that I can possibly say that will make you change your opinion ... so with that, have a good night.

Let me make sure I have this correct. You believe the word of law enforcement in this case, because, well, they are law enforcement. OK, I get that.
Yet in the Zimmerman/Martin case, you claim that the police can't be trusted, they are all racist and they are all covering for the shooting of a black man, by refusing to arrest Zimmerman. And that they suppressed evidence, correct?
Even if GZ were trying to catch up with TM, if TM did not want to be caught he wouldn't have been, unless he wanted to. TM could have outrun GZ even if GZ were triplets and running as a relay to chase down one TM.
Trayvon Martin had no idea what George Zimmerman's intentions were so why would he lead a strange man to his home where that creepy man could potentially harm the other members of the household?
We are told all of the time by law enforcement NOT to go to our home if we believe someone is following us but to go to a police station. That was sort of hard to do for TM because he was on foot. But he did fear GZ's intentions (and rightfully so) as his friend Rachael testified. And obviously GZ ambushed him while he was on the phone with her.
