These are all corporate franchise-owned with substantial regional lobbies at the state level. Mileage varies, state to state.

I haven't seen a link for this at all, and when I search "Pizza Hut EBT" all I find are other threads on different message boards where someone has posted this, also with no source. This was posted on IGN 3 years ago and someone who worked at Pizza Hut chimed in and said "as far as I know, we don't accept them so this is just a rumor"... so... show me the sources first.

The FCC didn't have any safeguards put in place to address that. Obama had nothing to do with that.
Landlines were physical connections and it was impossible to get 2 lines installed.
It wasn't until last year with soaring costs that the FCC finally did an audit and put a database in place and starting requiring the carriers to verify income. With that 41% of the subscribers didn't qualify anymore.
It was a windfall for the carriers, all along, disguised as helping the poor.

Mostly because your average right wing nutjob is both a pathological liar and incredibly stupid. They like "truthiness", things which kind of sound like they might be true, rather than things which are actually true and which do not fit their political ideology. Intelligent people look at the facts and then make policies based upon those facts while the RWNJ has policies he's told to support by the right wing media and then he desperately fishes around for something, anything, to support that ideology deliberately ignoring every fact which does not support their chosen world view.

Here's the hard facts: ~50% of people on food stamps work or are children to young to legally work. ~25% are elderly receiving social security leaving just 25% who do not have a job.

This is determined at the state, not federal level.

Turning 65 only qualifies them for medicare now.
SS is 66 for anyone born after 1943.

TANF is also on these EBT cards and everyone now accepts the cash portion of the EBT card, even gas stations.
