That's the agent, not the publisher. Got it. I think there's just some confusion on the thread on how the whole publishing a book process works (and understandable- it's not common knowledge).
I don't see anything on there about a book deal being offered though (or rescinded). The person she retained for representation, Sharlene Martin, is an agent. She helps broker book deals with a publisher. However, as I stated before, no publisher offer was made (or it would have been listed in Publisher's Marketplace). If the agent dropped her, fine, but it wasn't the publisher as there was never even a deal.
Looks like the juror was just far too ambitious and blew any chance of a "book deal" by giving that interview. Thank god! Certainly companies who publish books must have seen the reaction to that woman, not to mention how strong her negative bias was toward the victim. That juror sounded exactly like the "upper class" redneck bigots in the South who have gotten a college education maybe, and maybe have professional careers, BUT still harbor those deeply engrained attitudes of superiority over black people, and most other non-whites. "They".....all those "theys" out there. Can't believe her husband is much of a success as an attorney if he was jumping on the "lets-write-a-book" about WHY we found "George" not guilty band wagon so quickly.
Of course, I guess the woman could "self-publish"....

I disagree with your impression of this juror. However, I also think it is very, very poor taste to write a book about her experiences. Must as I am disdainful of those trying to exploit the Martin's grief right now to push their own agendas.

What difference does it make? The point is the juror was SEEKING someone to publish a book (and pay her for it) so she HIRED AN AGENT to find a publisher for her. Sounds like the agent dropped the juror, and I'm guessing that's because she must have believed it would be pretty near impossible to find a publisher, or if she could find one, that publisher would be pretty far down on the list of trash publishers. So why would an agent want to bother with that? So interesting that this juror IMMEDIATELY HIRED AN AGENT. Geeezzzz, she must have been pushing hard to get that verdict delivered so she could "cash in"........seems like what may have been enormous greed backfired big-time.
good for her. I know what you are saying, but I don't blame her. Sooner or later all the identities will be known anyway. These things have a way of being leaked.
The verdict was reached on a Sunday afternoon - not even 48 hours ago. She or her husband must have been in contact with the agent or shopping the book idea before the trial over.
People like that juror don't even realize that when they articulate that they "feel sorry" for that poor black girl, who "must feel" what was her word? "inadequate" to everybody and feel bad that she had such poor communication skills, etc., etc., they do not even realize how racist they are and how racist she sounded.

Nope. It was reached Saturday evening.
