That is why you don't stand there and watch the fire you put it out. As was pointed out by the previous poster she looked around the corner saw the thing got the kids out and then put the fire out. Everybody should now be happy. Well except the "rule followers" who still want this woman fired and probably would enjoy to see her put on trial and given a life sentence for her evil deed.
One of the first things we were taaught in the Navy was to put out the damn fire. If you spot a fire call for help, grab an extinguisher and try to PUT OUT THE FIRE!
The kids were safe in the room. The teacher did the right thing.
Rules are there so idiots like that, and most, managers do not have to think because, in my experience, most of them cannot.
If they had done that to me I would have gone back and severly harmed the dope.

Sorry Greg, being in the Navy and being a trained child care professional are two different things. How many children were on your ship?
Go back and read Post #58 and tell me what could have happened if I hadn't followed MY protocols and immediately evacuated the children in my care instead of running around trying to do something else on a whim.

I suppose I will ask again even though it still won't get answered.
What is the point of regulations that require fire extinguishers if nobody knows how to use them?

the regualtion does not forbid learning how to use the fire extinguisher. If the regulation required placement but forbad learning about them, then maybe you would have a argument.
The only thing she had control over was her room and the kids inside...everything else was an unknown to her...after the fact we can sit back and potificate. in real time critical moments, kids are the only priority.
Right. Responsibility for the kids and their safety are her only priority. Therefore, putting out the fire to me means that she was in fact concerned for their safety!
