I don't know. Seems like a pretty boring life to me. Last thing i want is a life where i'm surrounded by people that are no different than i am. What's the sense in waking up in the morning?
Going by that logic, people in Asian countries (where everybody is of the same race) must not see any "sense in waking up in the morning".
Older people generally have fewer friends, they focus more on family...they stay home more...they have sick spouses to attend to...they have less money...they don't go out at night...
They read posts like this and thank God they know how to read a newspaper and book.
Older Americans in this article refers to people over 30.
So? People typically feel more comfortable around others who are like themselves. It usually has nothing to do with "segregation" or "discrimination" or whatever "-ation" you wanna call it.
Do YOU feel that way?
I'm assuming you are talking in terms of race right?
I feel comfortable around people with whom I share similar interests, I don't know...fun people, easy going etc...
I don't first look at their race and think " Oh! I won't feel comfortable around them".
That study is way to flawed in my opinion. How were the respondents picked? What are the parameters of the study?
" These results were taken from the ongoing Reuters/Ipsos online poll and include the responses of 4,170 Americans between July 24th and August 6th ".
History is definitely one factor to consider but geography should be very carefully considered since this country is so vast and I am sure that not every race is represented in every corner of this country in order to socialize with each other.
Also most regular people are busy with their own regular life's and have not time to socialize in general or to go out of their way to make sure that their social circle has other races included.
What can be said of Europe than? How racially diverse is Switzerland? or Greenland? (just as an example). Do they have friends of other races?
And they are more likely married with families (than those living in cities)...so almost all still applies...
Married people don't have friends???
