No mind reading at all.

What do you expect Boehner to say? That the Tea Party conservatives have him over a barrel? That the Tea Party approach, to willingly shut down the government and to willingly push our government into default if their demands aren't met is the same psychology of terrorists?

Boehner's JOB is to hold his party together, and the 30 or so Tea Party conservatives have Boehner in a corner, because they don't care about the party, they don't care about anything except their own agenda.

The Tea Party conservatives aren't bad or evil people. Everyone who goes to DC has a political agenda, and their concerns about the budget and debt are valid concerns. They see themselves as fighting for this country, and because they are a minority, they see themselves in a do-or-die position. In their minds, they are the last resort, and they will use any means to achieve their objectives. That's what terrorists think, too.

But our government can only function when both sides are willing to compromise. The Tea Party conservatives aren't compromisers. They see compromise as failure. But compromise is what is required in our form of government.

If we are to have effective government, then Boehner is going to have to give up the Tea Party conservatives, and hope that some of them, when they've been cut loose, will realize that in order to represent their constituents, they've got to participate in the government process, which requires compromise.

Default Vote Against the Shutdown, That is Real Patriotism

The Tea Party has proven unequivocably they are traitors. They don't give a damn about their country, as long as they get their personal agenda through. That is the ideology of the Taliban and Al Quaeda, and it has no place in our government. John Boehner is both a coward and a traitor.

It is time to end this stupidity. I have read that the US Chamber of Commerce has offered to provide funding to incumbents who vote with the democrats to submit a clean Continuing Resolution and raise the debt limit. This is appropriate. Those who vote for their country, instead of being intimidated by a bunch of radicals are the true patriots. I will remember people like John McCain and others who called bs. on this shutdown. I may not agree with them, but I respect people who recognize they have a duty to country as well as their base.

The problem with tea partiers' pseudo patriotism is they label anything or anyone different as un-American.

"Obamacare is socialism and socialism is unamerican, therefore its my patriotic duty to shut down the government and let us default on our debts until the law is repealed."

Its this kind of wildly irrational justification thats brought about the fringe label that gets put on almost all Republicans today. They got in bed with far right extremists to win the House, now we're all dealing with the fallout.

"bigger issues?"

It's the liberal mind-set and Democrat pig headedness that has brought us to this point. That is a mighty big issue and at the core of the country's current ills (no budget, unwillingness to fund gov't departments/agencies individually, debt ceiling).

How easy to say that it's the Republicans who aren't compromisers. Harder to acknowledge that the U.S. Constitution gives the House the right to fund the government and that it appears that Harry Reid (remember him?) doesn't know it. The House has send numerous compromises for funding, and Reid is the one who's said "Scroo you!" each time.

Give me a very large break.

I'm seeing traitorous activities from both sides that seek to shut gov down and those who want to keep it open. All the press about the Park Rangers blocking access to Federal lands and forcing private businesses into financial hardship just so they can make sure everyone feels the pain is pretty damned treacherous too. Those parks, rivers, lakes belong to all of us and we don't need our government's permissions to have access to them. Both sides have taken hostages and both sides are criminal.

Why is it that the left has such a hard time acknowledging that.

And the White House is still closed from Obama's last tyrant rage.

This is what Tea Party Representative Ted Yoho said about not raising the debt ceiling:

“I think, personally, it would bring stability to the world markets, since they would be assured that the United States had moved decisively to curb its debt."

The Tea Party wants a default. How do you "negotiate" with that?

I didn't say the Republicans aren't compromisers.

I said the Tea Party conservatives aren't compromisers.

The US Constitution makes the House the originators of funding bills. Those bills still have to be passed by the Senate and and signed into law by the President. So, no, the US Constitution doesn't give the House the right to fund the government.

The fractured funding bills are a strategy to compel the Senate and the President to give in to the demands of the Tea Party. They aren't compromises at all.
