Is there any city or county in the US where you can smoke at bars? (regular, compared)

I miss the good ole 80's, the last decade when you could light up a cig after having dinner or while having some mixed drinks at a club. It seems like smoking bans have gone over the top, and the once proud American smokers ( which undoubtely gave males that macho attitude, and gave women that sexy, enticing look) are now treated like lepers. My dad has even told me about the time when ashtrays were available inside hospital rooms (ok, I agree this needed to be stopped).

So, if you live or know an area where smoking is still not seen as a vicious and disgusting act, please tell us.

You can't in Washington, but, I believe you still can at the Casinos on Indian Reservations here.

Thanks, I knew casinos and indian reservations were exempted from enacting smoking bans, but I meant more like "regular" business such as bars, pubs, dancing clubs, etc

I'm not a smoker (not tobacco, anyway ), so I was always ambivalent about lighting up in bars. It never used to bother me one way or the other...that is UNTIL I moved to Germany and compared my nightly pub-crawling experience in Washington DC (where I lived, and where smoking in bars is banned) to here. And I must say, I sure miss coming home not smelling like an ashtray. Especially bad is the summer months, where the cigarette smoke makes contact with your skin and clothes. You then smell like a SWEATY ashtray.

It's pretty disgusting.

The only place i know of is Las Vegas. Where i live (Los Angeles), you have to go out to the patio to smoke.

Hopefully not. I'm waiting for the public outdoor smoking ban to come to a city near me.

There's a place up the road from me that has a sign out front "Smoking Bar"(Florida)
Traveling down here, I notice that Virginia, I think it is, offered ashtrays even in a restaurant.

You can smoke in bars in Alaska, except for Anchorage.

yes, here in Washington state, nannyist libs have enacted one ban after another, but you can sometimes still exercise your freedoms by visiting the Indian tribes. It's ironic if you think about it.

Here in PA, bars can allow smoking, as long as food sales are less than 20% of the revenue, and no one under 18. My husband plays in a band at some of these and it's pretty disgusting how smelly he is when he comes home.
