Your source is so biased it fails on credibility from the start.

"Came from basically nothing"? What does that mean? She grew up in a middle class family. Her father was a teacher, and her mom was a school secretary. Alaska's teachers are among the highest-paid in the nation. Prior to running for gov, she was mayor of Wasilla FWIW. Following that stint, she ran for Lt. Gov, lost, then was appointed to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and was named chair. She toyed with the idea of running for senator from AK. From 2003 to June 2005, Palin served as one of three directors of "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.," a 527 group designed to provide political training for Republican women in Alaska.

I meant to say she had no big political backing when she started out running for governor.

You realize most politicians don't, right?

I don't think that's true. Maybe you could support that statement?

You're burning up a lot of energy as a Palin apologist.

This story was just another desperate case of the media and democrats trying to stir up dirt on the Palins in order to make their boy look good.
Palin and hub don't require any vast media conspiracy to look and sound dumb in front of cameras and microphones.

By the way, Barack Obama had formally joined the New Party, which was deeply hostile to the mainstream of the Democratic party and even to American capitalism. In 2008, candidate Obama deceived the American public about his potentially damaging tie to this third party.
Ah, but Obama is no dummy. Unlike the Wasillabillies.

It must be pretty hard to beat a corrupt governor (Frank Murkowski) and Toney Knowles was not the incumbent since he ran in 1998 and won two terms back to back. He lost to her in the general election considering there were 6 different parties running as well. Did I mention that she only won by 7 points?

Defeating a crooked candidate does not take a hell of alot of brains either. Did it ever occur to you that the republican party deliberately picked her because they did not want MCain to win? Did it ever occur to anyone that of all of the more intelligent and established republicans they find a practical nobody to run against Obama? If you ask the average republican the reason that they did not vote was mainly because of her and MCain's age. Pretty much every interview that she had to give outside of her own people made very little sense to the average thinking person.
