This argument will hold no legal water. If this were true then I must have committed breaking and entering hundreds of times as a kid, as I went over might friends houses all the time without explicit written consent of their parents. I'm just glad one of their parents never came home and shot me in the head at the very moment they spotted me.
It's immaterial whether the daughter had a right to invite the kid in because the court will decide based on what the father felt at the time of the incident. The girl may have invited him in the house, but denied it when it mattered the most. Poor kid. I can't imagine what his parents are going through right now. Sad.

Father admits to arguing with the kid prior to shooting him
Question is whether the kid told the father that he knew his daughter, something tells me he did, but we'll never know because he is dead.
There is nothing in the original story to validate either of those assumptions.
Other than the loaded gun and the dead boyfriend.
