The lunacy of the Christian fundies knows no bounds. Timberlake Christian School told the grandparents of an 8-year old girl she would not be welcome back because she has short hair, prefers wearing pants, likes baseball cards, and her BB gun. According to the school, she could only return only if "her dress and behavior ... follow suit with her God-ordained identity." No transgender or gay issues here, she knows she is a girl and what that means. When discussing sexuality with a doctor, the grandmother was told she shouldn't worry about that until puberty, to which a school employee told her to find a "Christian doctor".

While they might carry the title Christian, their attitude is anything but Christ like. All they have shown this poor young girl is that they have decided not to accept her as she is, and in doing so my have forever turned her away from God.
A true Christian school, business, church, etc. follows the simple concept of "Come as you are", knowing that God isn't picky about the clothes on your body but instead is worried about what is doing on in your heart, mind, and soul.
Many religious reactionaries recognize that the only way they can remain relevant and have even a modicum of the power they crave is by trying to restore the indefensible power plays such folks exploited in previous generations: Men abusing power over women; majorities abusing power over minorities; powerful abusing power over the weak; etc.
