It's not just the Dems. There is a short and sweet bill, correcting the 2008 act, sitting in the House. It never got to the floor for a vote, the Republicans (including the so called Tea Party types) wouldn't touch it. I hate to be so cynical, but I'm now convinced NO ONE wants to solve this crisis.

Refresh my memory - when ever was a bill crafted by the majority party, solidly backed by the Speaker, Leader, and Whip not presented for a vote?

Ted Cruz rallies GOP against border bill; House delays vacation - LA Times
I don't know why Cruz was messing around with the House of Representatives, he's in the Senate. Perhaps the press is blowing it out of proportion, cause surely the House has it's own set of different leaders. The Democrats in the Senate also had it's bill voted on today, it failed. So, the Democrats defeated their own bill while the Republicans defeated/didn't vote their own bill. Weird times.

Congress can't do this.
Then why are they creating all these bills?

It is their job to create bills. You didn't know this?

First you said they are not required to do anything about this, and now it's their jobs. Which is it?

No, their job is not create bills just for the sake of creating bills. Their job is to create bills which will improve the nation, and unfortunately they seem to have forgotten the purpose of creating bills.
