That's what I'm talking about! Screw the unintentional racism of low expectations. Someone was actually suggesting there aren't more Black applicants for Civil Service jobs because they can't find their way to the city, county, state, websites where the jobs are listed like Whites can.
No one ever suggested that. Not to mention no one in the rest of the country ever heard of Ferguson until a couple of weeks ago not to mention their need for more black police officers.
So you want to hire cops who aren't even from the state of Missouri to patrol the streets of Ferguson simply because they have the right skin color? What happens if one of them shoots someone? Then it'll be "He's not even from our state, city or community, how could he possibly relate to these kids". There's always another excuse waiting.
Never heard that excuse and don't expect to. People recruit from outside their area all the time and get by just fine.

With a town that is 70% Black one has to wonder what the real problem here is.
It's not only the police force but their local government as well.
That was the family's autopsy, not the county's. Some details of the county autopsy were leaked, but not officially released. If the leak is discovered, they face misdemeanor charges.
Why do we have to speculate about the cop's injuries? What's stopping them from releasing official statements, photos, and the cop's side of the story?
There's a pesky little thing called a grand jury investigation ongoing. They obviously don't know or care that we need fodder for our discussion forum.
I didn't say it was intentional discrimination. I said they have clearly not put any priority on hiring black officers or they would have more of them.
If they don't have enough black applicants and they need them as they admit they do and anyone with common sense would agree, then its their problem to drum up enough applicants.
Lol, no it's not. Black applicants can job search like the rest of the races. It's not up to employers to go find them in their self segregation. Blacks need to stop thinking they can have it both ways. You can't have a separate black culture (complete with race based organizations, music, media and other things) and ALSO cry about racism. Either you join the society around you, or you don't.
I have already answered that ^ in another post and stated IF all of that poster's scenario was proven
to be, the officer had the right to shoot. Absolutely.
But there is a difference between the scenario he gave and what we are presented with.
Another scenario would be, If Brown attacked Wilson in the police car, and grabbed the weapon and Wilson got the weapon back and then shot Brown right then and there. I would also say he walks.
But we have 35 feet between those scenarios and the dead body of Brown unarmed.
If Wilson was no longer in immediate danger, he had no reason to shoot to kill.
That is my opinion and exactly what the Grand Jury will look at as well.
- That's all I wanted to hear. You being reasonable & admitting there is s scenario in which the cop had every right to use his gun.
- Agreed. I've said from the beginning that if Brown was surrendering, or just standing there, even if he had already attacked the cop & tried to steal his gun, Wilson can't just shoot him. If however, Brown charged him, then a strong case can be made that Wilson was in immediate danger & had every right to shoot. A 6'4" man running at you will cover 35 feet in a few seconds (as evidenced by him ending up 3 feet from Wilson). If it's proven that he already attacked the officer once, crushed his orbital socket & went for his gun, no one could reasonably expect the police officer not to fire at this point. He's not going to say "Ok Big Mike, best 2 out of 3. Let's see if you can get the gun from me this time."

How do you make apathetic people engaged ?
The short answer is show them whats in it for them. Engage them on the issues they care about. First, you have to talk to them and learn what issues they do care about.
