Well, I think my standard of living is not too bad..... No thanks, I'll would rather keep the money I earn (rather than spread the wealth), and invest it in the way I sit fit for myself and my family.

Which would be a good thing. They are additional private expenses. Private means you have choice. You decide what you want and need, the government doesn't decide for you.
I did not argue if it's good or bad I simply stated how it is. Most people choose to live in a house as opposed to outdoors, and most people choose to have health insurance in US, although some choose to use ER as their healthcare provider, in which case their care is no different from the Nordic model. But if you compare the expenses between the average American to the average Nordic person, I'd say they are about the same.

We've declined as a nation because our income tax rates aren't as high was Nordic countries?
Tell you what, why don't you send a little extra to the IRS next April. Maybe that will make you feel better, that is if you actually pay federal taxes.
