USPS is efficient? What in the hell did you just say?

If the USPS is so great, why did the government pass a law preventing any private businesses from competing with it?

The USPS is not an efficient organization, it has never been an efficient organization, and it consistently loses money. In fact, if you took even an examination of the confederate constitution circa 1861, you would see how the south was so irritated by the government subsidizing the post office that they made it part of their constitution that the post office would have to pay for itself.

How about we do that?

My favorite part of the above video is the end when he talks about how we lose respect for the law when we consistently see seemingly unnecessary or bad laws. This sort of revelation explains my increasing almost hatred for the government. I simply don't respect the vast majority of the laws in this country. I follow them only to the extent that I think I might get caught if I don't.

Now, you're arguing on the basis of ideology.

USPS is efficient. It has to be under law.

Efficient as compared to what? No one is legally able to compete with it and it still consistently loses money. How is that efficient?

If you don't think USPS is efficient, how about you refuse mail and throw out your mailbox?

Reality doesn't play into these types of people.
The USPS is efficient because the law says so and that's enough for them.

Money, debt, etc. doesn't come into play with these goals.
The goal is to give people what they want in life..cost and containment and sources will follow.

Where do you get your information?

" The U.S. Postal Service ended the 2013 fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2012 – Sept. 30, 2013) with a net loss of $5 billion. This marks the 7th consecutive year in which the Postal Service incurred a net loss, highlighting the need to continue to capitalize on growth opportunities, reduce costs, and enact comprehensive legislation to provide a long-term solution to the agency’s financial challenges."

And that is from a USPS website!

USPS reports $5B loss despite revenue growth, record productivity

Note 5 BILLION dollar loss last year and that it was the 7th consecutive year of loss...

USPS...dead...but for the funding from slaves...
