of course we were. We didn't have senseless murders. wait, there was JFK, and MLK, and Malcom X, Medger Evers o maybe murders isn't the measure, nevermind. But we weren't having promiscuous sex back then. wait, there was Haight Ashbury, the hippie movement, sex drugs and rock and roll... ok so sex shouldn't be the measure either.

I got it .. we didn't start senseless wars on lies, wait there was that Vietnam thing it started on lies oh but we never called it a war so it doesn't count.

I don't really see much difference in the times, except we have less discipline and respect for others. We are desensitized but morals haven't changed much.

Sorry for the late reply. My people were all farmers or craftsmen, not very well educated back then for sure. They are pretty much all in the same little towns doing the same things to this day except they are much better educated.

BTW, unlike the popular opinion here, they love Americans and want the military bases to stay. It's a big relief for them to not have to worry about their own government rediscovering their geopolitical ambitions AGAIN.

There's plenty of difference in the times. There was far less drug abuse, less violent crime, less broken homes, less dead end jobs, less debt, less unemployment, less dependence on government aid, better education, less single motherhood, less immigration, greater labor force participation, etc.

The vast majority of the time that someone wants to tell you that there were no "good old days" you will find it's a liberal who doesn't want to face the reality of the disastrous effects of their policies on American society. Normally they will immediately try to point out the lessening of racism as if that is the only significant change in society and try to distract from the ruinous effects liberalism has had on families.

Why do you ask? Why did you choose 1967 exactly?

All while claiming they were supporting people's freedom. All later found to directly lead to increased drug use, delinquency, depression, and crime by children. And then who appears to champion more government involvement to deal with all these problems affecting the poor children? Why, it's the Democrat party. Right there to blame the conservative backward morality for those problems. And when it is pointed out that all these problems can be traced directly back to left wing policies from the 60's and early 70s? Well, then it's time to bring up how racism was so bad back then and distract all attention from the other social ills.

It's all very convenient. It's a nice, neat circular logic pattern that leaves Democrats as completely blameless and as crusading heroes at every turn.
The Democratic Party never supported legalized drugs. It did support the war on drugs, which destroyed families and neighborhoods, and has been the largest generator of crime of any factor. Unless you're going to claim that Joe Biden, Charlie Rangel, and Dianne Feinstein, all among the biggest Drug Warriors, were/are Republicans

No fault divorce came about because of that fire breathing, extremist radical liberal, Ronald Reagan
